My best friend and I went to Coachella this year and had a very strange time.
But Coachella isn't *just* about taking selfies and seeing the butts of strangers. It turns out that one of the coolest things to do at Coachella — or honestly, in general — didn't have anything to do with the festival at all.
During my Coachella trip, my BFF and I were invited to the most glamorous place in Palm Springs — the Lemonhead LA Glow House party.
At the Glow House, you could get your hair styled, have clusters of lash extensions added, and hang out by a glorious pool — all while spending time with the glitter geniuses behind Lemonhead's sparkle.
The first thing I saw when we went outside? Almost the ENTIRE Lemonhead LA glitter family.
You check out the brand's entire line of mess-proof, easy to remove glitter pastes at the official Lemonhead LA online store.
The second thing? A literal cupboard full of the most beautiful cosmetic glitter I've ever seen.
This is me, capturing my BFF Sable in #content #curation mode.
All those glorious glitters staring me in the face was overwhelming. Where do I even start? Fortunately, I had the ultimate glitter help — Lemonhead LA's creator and brand founder, Megan Dugan.
Finally, you select the finishing touch — a BIG glitter shape to make your custom Lemonhead blend truly unique.
These big cosmetic slitters come in a variety of shapes — holographic stars, rainbow moon, purple sequins, pink flowers, and more chunky hexagons than you know what to do with. These are the finishing touches on your custom Lemonhead glitter, the cherry on top of a perfect sparkle sundae.
The custom glitter creation experience began with a sealed bag full of Lemonhead LA's special gel base.
(This is not how Lemonhead LA usually makes its glitter pastes, BTW — though they are handmade in small batches at the brand's headquarters, every jar is made in exceptionally clean conditions. This is a pretty genius way to get a lot of gel to a party, though!)
Using a special ratio that I never could have understood, Megan added each of my selected glitters to the bag of gel.
Based on what I saw, Megan added a lot of the very fine glitters, and not very much of the chunky ones. I imagine that tweaking these ratios would give you a totally different Spacejam experience.
Then, she mushed it all together in the bag, adding more glitter as she went to get the color and sparkle exactly right.
Because there was SO MUCH glitter in my custom blend, we had to add more gel as we went... a choice which would have some unexpected consequences.
When it was all blended, she cut off a corner of the bag and disaster struck!
We had made my blend so insanely glitter-heavy that the bag split open! It was so thick, no bag could contain the sparkly magic inside.
But the surprises didn't end there. My custom sparklebaby wasn't just a single unconventional birth — she's twins!
My thicc glitter children are turquoise blue with a base of Houdini highlight, holographic stars, and large purple-to-clear vanishing sequins throughout.
Once my Frankenglitter creation was smoothed down, you could really see how amazing it was.
It was so cool to create something that has never, ever existed before. Having Megan help me make this was such a fantastic experience.
Beyond that, the color! Is! Beautiful! It's the brightest turquoise, with peeks of bright purple, and holographic flecks. Because of the star-shaped glitter, I don't think I'll be wearing it near my eyes, but I *will* be bathing in it 24/7 when summer arrives in NYC.
The thing I love best about my custom Lemonhead — apart from the fact that it probably set the record for the most glitter per square inch in a jar — is how the color changes in different lights.
In the direct desert sunlight, She Thicc showed up as an intense turquoise blue. Under our studio lights, far more of the green showed up. That's the beauty of the magical glitter that Lemonhead LA uses — it's truly transformative.
But this glitter is more than just a unique product — it's a keepsake that reminds me of all the incredible friendships that exist in the beauty community.
I've met the most incredible, kind, and ambitious people through the world of beauty, and it's so awesome to have a tangible reminder of that.
And there's more good news — you can make a custom glitter paste, too! Check out Lemonhead's official website for more information on how you can make your own one of a kind glitter creation.
