Last week, Kat Von D blessed the world with their first official look at the game-changing palette that's been SEVEN YEARS in the making. No longer a beauty urban legend, the long-rumoured Alchemist palette is actually REAL — and as Kat has shown us, it's even cooler than we first thought.
As KVD Beauty has shown off on social media, the triangular palette contains four ~magical~ multi-purpose shades.
Each of these colors is holographic — changing color depending on the way the light hits it. The swatches of these shades have been TRULY epic; and according to Kat, you can use them ANYWHERE.
"Originally formulated as an eyeshadow but can be used as a highlighter, or a top coat transformer on both lips + eyes," Von D says. This means that each color is not only safe for your face, but safe for eyes — something that MANY other "holographic" shadows can't say.
The brand has called these Alchemist shades "prismatic transformers," which I think means they change the color of whatever is underneath. Imagine Amethyst over black lipstick. SWOON.
But that's not the only cool thing about this palette.
Not only are all four shades cruelty-free and vegan, as is the majority of Kat's line, but the chic triangular packaging — the "component" in beauty-speak — is biodegradable and recyclable (I assume once the mirror has been taken out of the lid). Thinking about the wellbeing of the planet = AWESOME.
Not only that, but you'll actually be able to afford it.
The Alchemist holographic palette will retail for $32. That's $8 per full-sized color — way less than other shade-shifting highlighters on the market. And as I've mentioned, these colors are all safe for lips, eyes, and face — not "Safe for cheeks, put on your eyelids at your own risk." That makes it TRULY multi-use.
But if you want to get your hands on this beauty, you'd better be prepared to move FAST.
KVD Beauty brought a few of these palettes to The Makeup Show Chicago — and they sold out in record time. If that's any indication, you'd better have your buying fingers READY to snatch up Alchemist when it launches.
Are you going to buy this palette when it launches? What are your thoughts on the price?
At first I thought it was a little pricey for the size, but given that these shades are safe for use everywhere (and, y'know, that they took seven years to develop), I've since come around on that. Anyway! Tell me all about it in the comments, or on Facebook!
