plus size flattering clothes

There is no better time to be a plus-size woman. We're breaking barriers on magazine covers, shutting down social media trolls left and right, and simply living our lives unapologetically.

The fashion industry, however, still has a lot of catching up to do, especially fashion media. They're still spewing the same "flattering" fashion stories that have everything to do with making you feel bad about yourself and nothing to do with real style, which is all about taking risks and expressing yourself.

Here's what THEY tell us...

1

Stay away from stripes; they'll only emphasize your width.

Or maybe they'll just make you look really fucking chic? And they don't want us to look chic?

2

Bold prints will draw too much attention to your "problem areas."

I'm sorry, is there a problem here?

3

Oh no... she's wearing body-con. Quick! Someone give her a jacket.

So she can tell you thanks but no thanks and slay you with her curves.

4

Shorts are not for us. Thick thighs can't just be out and about!

I will wear shorts and I will wear them with high heels, thank you very much.

5

The color white is a HUGE no-no. It will make you look bigger and show everything...

Are you freaking kidding me right now?

6

Bodysuits are too dangerous.

You're right there. Nadia IS dangerous in this bodysuit. Hide your sons.

7

High-waisted jeans will show off your VBO (visible belly outline).

They'll also make you look cool AF.

8

No one wants to be able to see through your clothes.

EVERYONE WANTS TO SEE THROUGH MY CLOTHES.

9

Crop-tops are for flat tummies only.

NOPE.

10

Flabby arms must be hidden at all times.

IT'S SUMMER. SHUT UP.

11

In closing: DON'T LISTEN TO ANY OF THIS BS!

Look at any top fashion designer — style is about breaking rules and experimenting. But for some reason, when it's time to dress a plus-size body, it's about hiding things and not drawing too much attention. Fuck flattering. Fashion is supposed to be fun. Go have fun!
