There were over 208 appearances made by plus-size models this NYFW.

That's 181 more than last season. If those numbers aren't worth celebrating, I don't know what is.

While that's definitely nothing to scoff at, it's still a small number.

Most of the 208 appearances (which include runways and presentations) are from exclusively plus-size shows, like Torrid, Addition Elle, and Dia & Co. If you discount the models in those events, as well as any events that aren't on the official CFDA or IMG calendars, you'd only be left with 65 appearances.

While that's a clear improvement from last season, it's still way too low.

What IS really cool, though, is the amount of big-name designers who added plus-size models to their shows.

Christian Siriano, Michael Kors, Prabal Gurung — they're big industry names, so to have them use models that aren't a size 0 should feel like a victory.

Hopefully, more designers catch on and that number continues to grow next season.
