NO FEAR, JUST FASHION.

Have I worn a body-con dress before? Hell yes. Ain't no shame in my game. However, I usually cover my back rolls, tummy, and thick thighs with a jacket. But if I talk a big game of accepting my body in its current form, why am I hiding behind a jacket?

Since I've been on a fashion dare kick lately, I decided it was time to wear a form-fitting dress sans security jacket — to work.

They say you should always do one thing a day that scares you, right? Here goes.

NOWHERE TO HIDE: I don’t mind wearing skinny jeans or high-waist jeans that show the fullness of my stomach, but body-con dresses are legit scary. Maybe it's the fact that there's nowhere to hide?

Polka dot maxi dress ($129.99), Hey Gorgeous

THE DRESS: I found this beautiful Ply Apparel dress at HeyGorgeous.com. It's very "me" — very dramatic. If I'm going to do this, I'm going to do it to the max (er, to the maxi).

AWKWARD: I was constantly pulling my shapewear up to minimize the back roll situation. But later I got busy with work and forgot about it. I even stopped putting my hands in front of my belly as I spoke to people.

JUDGEMENT: As I paraded myself through the office, I received compliments on how great I looked. I thanked them and then obsessed on whether they'd seen my protruding hips or back rolls. The only way to get past that is to remember that you can't judge yourself through other people's eyes.

VERDICT: I don't think anyone else was as aware of my dress as I was — and at the end of the day I felt... liberated. I don't know how soon I'll do something like this again, but it will certainly be easier next time.
