Angelina Jolie lives a mostly private life with her six children, the oldest of which just got dropped off at college.

Maddox was adopted by Jolie at 7 months old from Cambodia, and the two have had an incredibly close mother-son bond throughout his life. Now, at 18, he is off to study biochemistry at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea.

Like any loving parent, Jolie brought him to his college campus and spent a few days touring the area before leaving him there to be independent. Some of his future classmates spotted the famous actor and her son, and asked them a few questions and took a group photo together.

The college student's adoptive father and Jolie's ex-husband, Brad Pitt, was not in attendance. Reportedly, the father and son have been estranged ever since the divorce and custody battle in 2016.

While, leaving her son in a new country was clearly heart-breaking, Jolie will have plenty of distractions with her upcoming film Maleficent: Mistress of Evil releasing on October 18.

Remember when Maddox looked like this? Well, not anymore.

Many remember when Jolie first adopted Maddox, and many adorable photos circulated of the tiny tot. Jolie has had some help raising Maddox from different partners and his adoptive father Brad Pitt, but mostly she has been a single mother. In 2003, Jolie opened up to People about how having a baby in her life changed her for the better and realigned her priorities. Now, nearly 18 years later, it's time for him to leave the nest.

Maddox is all grown up and ready to be independent, but Mom was still there to help him get settled at his new home.

Honestly, Jolie looked like such a mom dropping off her oldest child at college — and I am here for it. The sweater around the waist, purse and sunglasses in hand, and a proud expression is peak mom style. Maddox looked cool, too, with a neutral sweater, black pants, and checkered shoes. He gave a few shy smiles to the camera, understanding that it comes with the territory of having a famous parent.

The actor and her son were spotted touring the campus and hitting a few hot spots in Seoul before she left him on his own.

Maddox is still very close to his younger siblings and hopes that they will come visit, according to a source from People. Jolie shared her pride to the magazine and said, "I look forward to all he will do." The 18-year-old toured multiple campuses before deciding on Yonsei, and he's been studying the Korean language to prepare for school in a foreign country.

Jolie got visibly emotional talking to some of the students about her final moments with her son.

Jolie met a few of Maddox's future classmates and from the expression on his face it was clear that he was feeling a little awkward. Jolie told some students, "I leave today, today's the day I dropped him off." And, then, with tears in her eyes she revealed, "I'm trying not to cry."

Maddox seemed excited to be in his new school, and as embarrassed as any teen would be about his mom talking to his future classmates.

Jolie agreed to take a group photo with some of the students, and then got back to her last day with her son. Overall, though, the proud mom seemed excited for her son's journey. "It seems like a great school," she said in the Instagram video.

In a somewhat recent photo, all of Jolie's six kids are starting to look totally grown up. Fans of the actor will remember seeing her kids in the spotlight as babies, but as they've grown older the family has lived a more private life. Jolie is clearly proud of all of her kids, and faced the first major hardship as a mom — letting her oldest son go.

Luckily, Jolie has a distraction with work to keep her preoccupied. Her latest movie Maleficent hits theaters this October.

Jolie will star in the sequel to Maleficent alongside Elle Fanning and Michelle Pfeiffer. Fanning plays Aurora and Pfeiffer plays the Prince's mother, Queen Ingrith. The two maternal figures enter into a battle over family ties and ruling the kingdom.
