Angelina Jolie lives a mostly private life with her six children, the oldest of which just got dropped off at college.
Maddox was adopted by Jolie at 7 months old from Cambodia, and the two have had an incredibly close mother-son bond throughout his life. Now, at 18, he is off to study biochemistry at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea.
Like any loving parent, Jolie brought him to his college campus and spent a few days touring the area before leaving him there to be independent. Some of his future classmates spotted the famous actor and her son, and asked them a few questions and took a group photo together.
The college student's adoptive father and Jolie's ex-husband, Brad Pitt, was not in attendance. Reportedly, the father and son have been estranged ever since the divorce and custody battle in 2016.
While, leaving her son in a new country was clearly heart-breaking, Jolie will have plenty of distractions with her upcoming film Maleficent: Mistress of Evil releasing on October 18.
Remember when Maddox looked like this? Well, not anymore.
Many remember when Jolie first adopted Maddox, and many adorable photos circulated of the tiny tot. Jolie has had some help raising Maddox from different partners and his adoptive father Brad Pitt, but mostly she has been a single mother. In 2003, Jolie opened up to People about how having a baby in her life changed her for the better and realigned her priorities. Now, nearly 18 years later, it's time for him to leave the nest.
Maddox seemed excited to be in his new school, and as embarrassed as any teen would be about his mom talking to his future classmates.
Jolie agreed to take a group photo with some of the students, and then got back to her last day with her son. Overall, though, the proud mom seemed excited for her son's journey. "It seems like a great school," she said in the Instagram video.
Jolie is a proud mom to six kids, three of which were adopted.
In a somewhat recent photo, all of Jolie's six kids are starting to look totally grown up. Fans of the actor will remember seeing her kids in the spotlight as babies, but as they've grown older the family has lived a more private life. Jolie is clearly proud of all of her kids, and faced the first major hardship as a mom — letting her oldest son go.
