In her most open and honest interview yet, for Women's Health Magazine. Camila Mendes opened up about her experience with sexual assault.

The Riverdale-actor also talked about her tumultuous childhood and moving around a lot without having a permanent home. So many have thought that her ribcage tattoo that reads "to build a home" referenced that part of her life. But it also has to do with being roofied and sexually assaulted during her freshman year of college.

As her only tattoo, it is extremely significant to Mendes and how she lives her life now. The 25-year-old also talked to Women's Health about her own personal health goals and how she overcame an eating disorder.

Mendes' tattoo reads "to build a home" in delicate cursive font on her right ribcage.

The actor opened up to WH about her experience with sexual assault, and where the inspiration for her tattoo comes from. "I got the tattoo after my freshman year," she told the magazine. "I had a very, very bad experience; I was roofied by someone who sexually assaulted me."

The tattoo reminds her to strengthen her sense of stability and "home" within herself first, and to be in environments that strengthen that sense of self, too.

Mendes has gone through her own personal challenges with health, but is at a place where she is absolutely deserving of being on the cover of the health magazine.

Mendes said that she works every day at overcoming her eating disorder and remains an advocate for people going through that struggle. Plus, the busy actor prioritizes an active lifestyle not for the sake of appearances, but to be healthy and to feel good. "Whenever I feel like I’m going through something difficult, I think about what I can do physically for myself," she said in the interview.

Mendes also revealed to Women's Health that she recently bought her mom a house in their original home state, Florida. So she finally has that (physical) home she was always searching for.

Even though Mendes has come to the realization that home is within herself, she ended up being able to buy a physical one for her mom. She may be busy working in Vancouver on Riverdale, but Mendes now has a place to go home to see family. Overall, her tattoo has multiple meanings having to do with stability and finding comfort in one's self and environment.
