Florida Police Have Reopened The Case Of The Death Of Carole Baskin's Former Husband
Things aren't looking too good for Carole Baskin. Not only is she seemingly resoundingly disliked by Tiger King viewers, but they also believe she murdered her former husband. The reaction has been so strong, in fact, that now Florida sheriffs are requesting more leads in John Donald Lewis' disappearance.
And while she's yet to be found of any wrongdoing, there are thousands out there dedicated to putting her in prison.
One of the biggest story lines in Tiger King was the death of Carole Baskin's former husband.
The Big Cat Rescue founder became the topic of her late husband Jack Lewis' death. The death and disappearance of Lewis, who disappeared mysteriously in 1997 following an alleged plan to divorce Baskin, is still unresolved, with the case going cold, yet many believed that Baskin was behind it. Tiger King brought those suspicions to a national platform, and now America is convinced that Baskin killed her husband and fed him to tigers.
Viewers seem to have no doubt that she did it.
Baskin has become the focus of endless memes and discussions on social media. "Three things are certain in life: Death, Taxes, and Carole Baskin definitely murdered her husband," one tweet read that insists that there is no doubt that she was behind Lewis' death.
And then, of course, her whole sardine speech didn't make her case any better.
Who could forget the scene when Joe Exotic's tiger attacked his foot? The situation led him to almost shooting the tiger, and Exotic became suspicious that someone set him up by spraying perfume. Baskin went on to suggest sardines if you want to get a tiger to kill someone.
Not suspicious at all.
Even Cardi B thinks she did it.
Yes, Cardi B and a slew of other celebrities are also convinced that Baskin is guilty. "She killed him," Fat Joe said. "We need justice for Carole’s husband!" Gigi Hadid exclaimed. Basically, everyone is officially invested.
Well, now police are asking for leads in the cold case.
Chad Chronister, Hillsborough County Sheriff, tweeted out that they are accepting any tips people may have. "Since @netflix and #Covid19 #Quarantine has made #TigerKing all the rage, I figured it was a good time to ask for new leads. #CaroleBaskin #DonLewis #Netflix #Tiger #BigCatRescue #JoeExotic #TigerKingNetflix #HCSO," he wrote.
People took his call seriously, and according to an interview with WFLA, his office has "confirmed on average, over the past three or four days, six tips a day are coming into his office regarding the disappearance of Jack Donald Lewis."
And while the leads have been unfounded, the office is committed to finding out more about Lewis' disappearance.
