Sprousehart and Bughead shippers are in mourning this week because the beloved couple have apparently called it quits. At least they have in real life, anyway.

The notoriously private couple would give fans sneak peeks into their hyper-romantic relationship via their social media accounts, but they hardly ever spoke about each other in interviews. So it's unlikely this news will ever get confirmed, but multiple sources have reported that the couple has broken up even though they spent time together at last weekend's Comic-Con.

The two looked extremely in love at Sprouse's recent Five Feet Apart premiere, but have been relatively quiet on social media since then. Fans pored over interviews to catch glimpses of the adorable duo flirting in videos, but the most surefire way to catch a romantic moment between them was by keeping tabs on their Instagram accounts.

Reinhart posted a shot of herself and her costars with a poignant caption.

Sprouse and KJ Apa are known for being goofballs on press tours, and clearly Reinhart had had enough. The Betty actor joked, "Please don’t put me between these two ever again." Sprouse and Apa are obviously making jokes behind her, but some people have called out the caption for its double entendre about the couples breakup.

If the numerous reports are true, the two have maintained a positive friendship and working relationship despite ending their romantic relationship.

Reinhart shared this hilarious clip of Riverdale's Core Four jumping on a trampoline together. Fans love to see the chemistry and friendships in real life as well as on screen for the show's stars, and that doesn't look like it's changing anytime soon. Betty and Jughead apparently will have some stress in the upcoming season, too, because Jughead is going to a new school and will only be back in town on the weekends. How ironic.

At the Five Feet Apart premiere four months ago, they looked so in love.

Reinhart shared a proud message to her beau and his costar Haley Lu Richardson.

"I am so in awe of @colesprouse and @haleyluhoo for their work in this film. The last few days have been hard on all of us... and this film touches you in a way that makes you feel incredibly grateful to be with the people you love. I can’t express enough how moved I was by @fivefeetapartfilm — I can’t wait for the world to see it," she captioned these posts.

The pictures they took at the premiere were filled with PDA and loving glances.

Not to mention when they arrived looking so stylish at the Met Gala in May.

Two Riverdale couples, Sprouse/Reinhart and Camila Mendes/Charles Melton, showed up to the campy carpet outside the Met in May. There didn't seem to be any tension between the couple, and Sprouse shared an artsy shot inside the museum of his girlfriend. Reinhart had Marie Antoinette vibes in Salvatore Ferragamo, and Sprouse wore a red suit by the same designer.

Earlier this year, Reinhart shared a loved-up Valentine's Day post.

"You make me very happy. Happy Valentine’s Day, my love," Reinhart captioned this photo of the two just about to kiss. Now that the news has dropped that they've split, fans are bombarding this post with sad messages.

"I am completely heart broken...you guys were my favorite couple and it's utterly devastating that you two have split," one person commented.

Reinhart was her boyfriend's artistic muse, and he often shared stunning photos of her to his Instagram page dedicated to photography.

On Valentine's Day this year, Sprouse wrote with this adorable photo of his girlfriend at the time, "Quite actually the only thing keeping me sane is @lilireinhart."

Then he shared a second photo of Reinhart in the snow and captioned it, "Another one just for good measure."

Even though they kept things pretty private, they weren't afraid to show some love on social media on their own terms.

The two often expressed frustration at the rumors circulating around their relationship and never discussed it in public. Before their relationship was confirmed, they would shut down questions about their status entirely. Of course, that didn't stop them from sharing photos like this one in which they look completely in love.

Reinhart practically confirmed their then-unconfirmed relationship status with this birthday shoutout to Cole.

The year prior, Reinhart wished a happy birthday to her "pal" Cole. A year later, they were adventuring together and seemed fully in love. "It seems as if the world would still be a stranger to me, if not for you. I’m so thankful that our paths intertwined to form this beautiful adventure ~Happy birthday, my love," she wrote.

Their on-screen chemistry translated easily into a real-life relationship.

In March this year, Cole told Glamour the most romantic thing he had ever done for his girlfriend, and it was absolutely swoonworthy.

"I took my girlfriend on a date where we drove to this location deep into Canada, and I surprised her with a big hot-air balloon adventure, which was quite a bit of fun... I like traveling quite a bit. I like road-tripping. Those grand experiences always end up yielding the greatest memories — and the greatest romances," he said.

The two also shared this shot of an early date that turned into a late-night moment. "When I wanted eggs and toast at 1am," Reinhart captioned the photo and tagged her photographer, Cole.

Their playful friendship quickly bloomed into something more, and fans picked up on it right away.

From jokes about being "Daddy" with their fellow Riverdale costars to behind-the-scenes moments like this helium-filled one, they clearly had fun together. Sprouse said in an interview with the LA Times that they couldn't keep away from each other, which is what made staying private so difficult. "I’ve girded my private life very intentionally... It’s one of those things that I still sort of grapple with, and Lili and I grapple with," Sprouse said.

The two met at the start of Riverdale, and their on-screen chemistry was so strong it began a love story for the ages.

Reinhart played it coy when asked about her first impression of Sprouse. Apparently, she thought his voice was annoying, but quickly got over that. "I thought his voice was annoying... That was my first impression. I was like, 'That guy's got an annoying voice. And now it's grown on me," Reinhart told Glamour in a video.

In the early Riverdale days, she shared this photo of the two on-set. "Betty & Juggy," she captioned the photo with Cole's head in her lap. What started as an on-screen romance quickly blossomed in real life, which is what makes their breakup even more heartbreaking.
