Dove Cameron may be a former Disney Channel kid, but she is by no means a goody two-shoes. The 23-year-old has 10 tattoos, and she got her first when she was only 14.

Cameron got her start playing twins Liv and Maddie on the self-titled show and by starring in the Disney Channel Original Movie The Descendants. But now that her Disney days are behind her, the artist has been working on music. She just released her first three singles: "Bloodshot," "So Good," and "Waste." Recently, she told Refinery29 all about her ink and gave the in-depth meaning behind all of them. Here are pics of almost all of her tattoos and the significance behind them.

Snake on her right middle finger.

Cameron revealed that she noticed snakes often have a negative connotation with respect to femininity in mythologies, so she wanted to reclaim its significance. This little snake is her ode to being a woman and being powerful. It's also her most popular on her Instagram and can be spotted all over her feed.

She got matching tattoos of little suns with boyfriend Thomas Doherty.

Cameron met Doherty on the set of The Descendants 2, and the two are totally head over heels in love. So naturally, they have matching tats. The actor captioned the post, "Talk about a workplace romance gone wrong."

Cameron has matching tattoos with her former costar and bestie Kiersey Clemons.

Cameron and Clemons hit it off after starring in Cloud 9 together. Then the two pals went to Vegas and inked the X and O symbols on each of their pinky fingers. Cameron wrote, "What happens in Vegas stays on your body for the rest of your life @kiersey."

She also has a tattoo dedicated to her mom.

In French, Cameron has "Star Stuff" tattooed on her ankle, which she says is an unpublished book her mom would read to her as a kid. Her mom and sister also have the matching words "Matière D’étoiles" on them.

She explained the piece in her caption, "When my sister and I were younger, my mother wrote a children’s book called Star Stuff to loosely explain existentialism and how we are all the universe becoming itself every day. But she never published it, so it was like our own little personal bedtime story."

"Do It for Aphrodite" is the actor's motivational phrase.

The words are inked across her right wrist and are a reminder to work hard. Cameron told Refinery29, "I always used to say to myself, '[Redacted] Get up, do this difficult day, do it for Aphrodite!' Then I had a day off in London and got it on my body because to do something for the raw, sexual, female natural energy of the world — and do it on behalf of that, instead of doing it from a diminished, demure P.O.V. — is both powerful and what we need right now."

Her first tattoo was her birth sign, which she got on her hip when she was only 14.

Cameron explained in this Teen Vogue video that she got a Capricorn symbol on her hip with her friends when she was only 14. The rebellious teen had a friend's tattoo gun and spur-of-the-moment decided to do it. It sparked a tattoo addiction.

Cameron also has her ex-boyfriend's birth sign tattooed on her opposite hip.

Cameron shared that she'd never get any tattoo removed because they're symbols of her life's journey. So the little Gemini symbol opposite her Capricorn is here to stay. It worked out, she told Refinery29, because now it also symbolizes her role on the Disney Channel shows in which she played twins.

She also has a tattoo dedicated to her late father that reads "Candy Is Dandy" on her left bicep.

The singer told Refinery29 that her dad had a catchphrase that she found wildly hilarious as a child, so she used it to honor him.

"My dad passed away when I was 15, and when I was younger, he used to always have me say, ‘Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker.’ I think it’s from Willy Wonka, but it’s such an inappropriate thing for a child to say. He would always send me up to people and be like, ‘Go tell that person what I said!’ It would piss off my grandparents to no end, and it makes me laugh so much and reminds me of the kind of person he was."

When she was 23, Cameron got two cohesive tattoos on her wrist.

On her left wrist, Cameron has "À Naître" inscribed. It's a French word that means "to be born."

And on her other wrist, she has the word "Immortel."

This side of her body has a tattoo that reads "to never die." Cameron told Refinery29 that the tats are symbolic of Buddhist philosophy. She said, "It’s a reminder that this life is temporary, but you are eternal and this too shall pass."
