It's awards show season, which means it's time to fawn over the incredible fashion statements displayed on all the red carpets.

The 77th annual Golden Globes was especially a night to remember for actors like Joaquin Phoenix, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Akwafina, who took home prizes. But the real winners were those who decided to go all out on the red carpet before the show started. Over-the-top sleeves, bows, feathers, and capes were all on view.

Jennifer Lopez, Billy Porter, Kaitlyn Dever, and more stars showed off their signature style, and for better or worse, went a bit wild with their fashion choices.

Joey King wore an optical illusion–style gown by Iris van Herpen.

King was nominated in the Best Actress category for her role portraying Gypsy Rose Blanchard in Hulu's The Act. The young ingenue wore an avant-garde 3D printed gown that looked like a true work of art on the red carpet. The black-and-white pleats waved as she sauntered down the carpet like some kind of alien creature (but in the absolute best way).

Jennifer Lopez looked like a literal Christmas present dressed in a giant gold and emerald bow.

Lopez was the prize to be won at the Golden Globes dressed like an actual gift box. The oversize bow and golden top fit right in with the awards show vibes. I loved the length and neckline, plus those emerald gems draped on her neck tied the look together.

Beanie Feldstein was a goth Grecian goddess.

The Booksmart star looked like a goth Grecian goddess, and I was absolutely here for it. The giant headband and matching earrings were so extra, but oh-so-cool. Feldstein's off-the-shoulder dress looked sultry and classy.

Michelle Williams wore a dress the color of ice cream and looked so sweet.

Williams took home a top honor for her role in Fosse/Verdon and wasn't afraid to stand out in a vibrant shade of orange. The blue floral detail added an extra pop that made her blond bob look so cute and fresh. Williams' orange sherbet-colored gown was a bold choice but worked well for the actor, who was so composed when accepting her award.

Beyoncé chose sleeves, sleeves, and more sleeves.

Beyoncé and Jay Z surprised everyone by showing up to the highly publicized awards show, and they did not disappoint with their ensembles. Queen Bey went for the oversize look, too, but with giant golden sleeves. While she didn't pose on the red carpet, Beyoncé posed for her own Instagram photos and looked just as professional and flawless as ever.

Awkwafina made history and looked chic doing it.

Awkwafina became the first Asian-American woman to win in the Best Actress category for Musical or a Comedy. The star proved she has comedic timing and heart as the star of The Farewell. The 31-year-old wore a high-necked chiffon Dior suit that was both classy and chic.

Billy Porter never disappoints and never dresses down.

Porter is always ready for an excuse to dress to the nines, and the Golden Globes was no exception. Dressed in all white, his long feathered cape flowed effervescently behind him. The Alex Vinash design looked like an angel's wings, plus he wore dazzling Jimmy Choo boots that pulled the outfit together. At the after-party, Porter ditched the cape but kept the feathers for a shorter version of the look.

Yara Shahidi's canary yellow minidress popped against her skin tone.

Shahidi also opted for the big bow trend and looked so stylish doing it. The bright yellow gown stood out against her stunning complexion. Her hair was pulled off her face and up into a sky-high braided ponytail that showed off her sparkling smile.

Sofia Carson was a giant puffball on the red carpet.

Carson wore an over-the-top pink chiffon gown that looked like a layer cake. The feathered bodice and massive tulle skirt delivered a romantic vibe that fit the young actor perfectly. Her brunette hair was pulled back into loose waves, and she showed off a giant diamond ring on her finger.

Kaitlyn Dever was not afraid of a bold pattern.

Another Booksmart star opted for a bold floral print that turned heads on the red carpet. The red, pink, black, and white Valentino dress featured billowing sleeves and a long train. What might initially seem to be a heavy look somehow appeared light and angelic on the young actor.
