Justin and Hailey Bieber shocked their fans by getting married so soon, but it looks like the two are in it for the long haul. The couple sat down with Vogue for a lengthy interview and cover shoot on what brought them together and how they plan to stay that way. It gets really personal.

In the interview, Justin details his past, including his dependency on drugs and sex. He said he had to turn to God to get better and leave his bad reputation.. He and Hailey are all over each other during the interview, but maybe that's just how newlyweds are. They plan on moving forward with a real wedding reception and growing together as a couple.

Justin and Hailey Bieber were interviewed about their relationship for the latest issue of Vogue.

Rob Haskell sat down with the couple for Vogue to talk about how they met, their whirlwind relationship, and their consequential marriage. Justin said he was nervous about the interview, his first in-depth one since he released Purpose in 2015.

It seems like Justin deals with his nerves by touching his wife ... a lot.

One of the first things detailed in the interview is how physical Justin is with Hailey. He sits down next to Hailey, climbs all over the sofa, puts her in his arms, and then switches so that he's in her lap. It totally reminded me of some Tom Cruise couch situation.

Just a small portion of the interview was exclusively about Hailey.

Even though the interview overall focused on their relationship and how the couple came together, just a small portion featured Hailey as an individual. We learn that she was homeschooled and had never touched drugs for fear of a genetic predisposition to drugs.

The rest of the interview is focused on Justin's career and how it changes alongside his not-always-great reputation.

The interview is much more in-depth about Justin. He discusses how he went from the perfect teen heartthrob to an addicted delinquent with a bad reputation, which he developed thanks to sex, drugs, and a lack of trust of the people around him.

Justin also revealed for the first time that he used to struggle with sex addiction.

Remember that time Justin was caught coming out of a Brazilian brothel? That makes a lot more sense now.

On top of the sex addiction, he developed a dependency on Xanax.

He goes on to say that drugs "put a screen between me and what I was doing. It got pretty dark. I think there were times when my security was coming in late at night to check my pulse and see if I was still breathing.”

He says he thinks the Xanax use started because he felt so much shame.

All of this was compounded by trust issues.

Justin said that he's working on trusting his wife, but that it's difficult because of his past. People have used him to make headlines, and because of that, he feels safer when he's isolated.

After an "informal" detox with a friend, Justin said he was able to get his life together and get reacquainted with religion.

This was also a reason for his celibacy. He said that "[not having sex] was a way for him to feel closer to God."

He doesn’t ask us not to have sex for him because he wants rules and stuff,” Justin explains. “He’s like, I’m trying to protect you from hurt and pain. I think sex can cause a lot of pain. Sometimes people have sex because they don’t feel good enough. Because they lack self-worth. Women do that, and guys do that. I wanted to rededicate myself to God in that way because I really felt it was better for the condition of my soul."

Then it got a little strange. He called Hailey his "reward" for improving his behavior.

We know that before Justin met Hailey he had a bad reputation in the media. The Vogue interview states that by the time Justin reconnected with Hailey (after a short time dating a few years back) he was a year-plus into his celibacy.

"And I believe that God blessed me with Hailey as a result. There are perks. You get rewarded for good behavior,” he said about meeting Hailey when he did.

And it doesn't help that he low-key implied he rushed their marriage so they could have sex.

All I can say for this strange admittance is that he did say there were other reasons they got married. They're in love and all that. But before he got caught up dulling the meaning of his marriage, he said that he got married partly so he could have God-approved sex.

Justin admits that while a desire finally to have sex was one reason they sped to the courthouse, it was not the only reason. “When I saw her last June, I just forgot how much I loved her and how much I missed her and how much of a positive impact she made on my life. I was like, Holy cow, this is what I’ve been looking for.”

Nevertheless, the couple is working toward loving each other in a positive way.

They met with a marriage counselor in an effort to make their 12-week romance a lifelong one. They both admit marriage is hard, but they seem committed to each other and the relationship.

Even though the two of them might not have gotten married for all the right reasons, they didn't do it because she got pregnant, rumors be damned.

That rumor went around for a while, especially because the couple got married so quickly after they reconnected. But it's been a few months now, and there are no signs of pregnancy afoot. In the Vogue interview, the couple clarified they're going to wait a few years before having kids.

They're looking forward to having an actual marriage reception, which is happening this month!

The Vogue piece confirmed the couple is "finalizing" their wedding plans at last. They are planning on having a reception that is reportedly taking place on February 28.

At the end of the day, they're young and they acknowledge they moved quickly, but at least they're trying to be better.

Hailey says that she knows marriage is a hard commitment that they both are dedicated to.

“I want people to know that. We’re coming from a really genuine place. But we’re two young people who are learning as we go. I’m not going to sit here and lie and say it’s all a magical fantasy. It’s always going to be hard. It’s a choice."
