These days it's pretty easy to forget that when Lady Gaga entered the mainstream music industry in 2008, she was known as the edgy, quirky, and sometimes scary pop performance artist responsible for hits such as "Just Dance," "Starstruck," and "LoveGame." Remember the iconic lyric "I want to take a ride on your disco stick"?

Anyway, that woman has an honest-to-God Academy Award now! Talk about things we never saw coming a decade ago. The triple-threat singer/dancer/actress won her first-ever Oscar last night. She took home the Best Original Song award for "Shallow," the undeniable hit from her and Bradley Cooper's box-office smash A Star Is Born.

If you know anything about Gaga and her past, you know this was a very, very, very, VERY big deal to her. She's studied performing arts since she was a teenager and even dropped out of the legendary Tisch School of the Arts in New York City to pursue a professional music career. Clearly all that hard work and risk-taking paid off, because at the age of 32, Gaga's just achieved something most songwriters and performers can't in an entire lifetime.

Given all this, Gaga's response to her Academy Award win was nothing short of chilling. Below, watch parts of her acceptance speech and post-ceremony interview, which will surely fire you up to go out in the world and live your own dream.
