Ah, young love. It's full of ups and downs, breakups to make-ups, and all the drama in between — and social media does not make relationships any easier. So when Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth announced their divorce, bangerz were heard around the world in the form of Twitter and Instagram and Facebook posts. And forget being fired by tweetHemsworth learned he was being divorced the same way the rest of the world did: on the internet. Ouch.

Page Six spilled this tea, and it could have been brewed only in 2019.

Hemsworth learned he was being divorced when Cryus' representation put out a public statement, reported Page Six. It read, in part, "Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time." The statement was released before Hemsworth knew it was happening; he was even in a different country at the time. Hemsworth was in Australia, where is he is from, and it is in a different time zone from the United States. It's possible that Hemsworth didn't find out he was being dumped until the next day! Yikes.

Cyrus and Hemsworth had been separated, but he was reportedly trying to make it work.

"The relationship had indeed been crumbling, but [Hemsworth] had been trying to save the marriage, and wasn’t ready to publicly announce it," a source close to Hemsworth told Page Six. Cyrus apparently scooped her own husband by announcing their divorce without him knowing in advance.

Though the couple has been dating since 2009, Hemsworth and Cyrus announced their wedding earlier this year.

Cyrus and Hemsworth have had an on-again, off-again relationship for much of the past decade, but got engaged in October 2016. They tied the knot in a low-key, secret ceremony, complete with puppies, wedding cake, and a backyard trellis. An adorable wedding, but alas, it wasn't meant to be.

Our theory: Cyrus knew those photos of her and Kaitlynn Carter making out were going to be published, and preemptively dumped her man.

In the celebrity world, the only thing worse than surprise-divorcing your husband is being papped cheating on your husband. Cyrus likely had a heads-up that the kissing photos with new girlfriend Kaitlynn Carter were going to hit the wires, and decided "Well, eff it, let me just divorce my husband so it doesn't look like I cheated!" This is my tinfoil hat theory.

Meanwhile, Cyrus and Carter are sharing an apartment and sharing clothes.

Cyrus and Carter are not wasting any time with their new relationship. The two have reportedly moved in together, and were spotted wearing matching straight-leg denim jeans in a light blue wash with black T-shirts and sunglasses. Mazel tov to the happy couple.
