No matter what you do for a living, every now and then you need a break from your work. Burnout is a real consequence of hustling too hard, and often your mental health is what suffers the most.

YouTuber Lilly Singh is acknowledging these facts head-on. In a new video, she opened up about needing some time away from the platform. Even though Singh is one of YouTube's top creators whose videos get millions of views, she explained that she's “mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually exhausted."

She got even more candid when discussing just how much YouTube has changed since she first started producing content eight years ago.

When it comes to YouTube, Lilly Singh is kind of a big deal.

She's one of the platform's highest earners, with her videos garnering millions of views.

But life in the YouTube fast lane can take a toll, Singh explains in her latest video

That's why she announced that she's stepping away from YouTube for a while.

In the video, she shares that she is “mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually exhausted,” and that she intends to use this break as an opportunity to regain her creative energy.

"I've enjoyed it," she says about YouTube. "I love it. But that doesn't take away from the fact that it has been a lot."

In the video, she also fesses up to not totally understanding how YouTube works these days. She adds that the platform has changed a lot since she first began her channel eight years ago.

"I haven't been super happy with a lot of the content I've created," she says. "You know, the thing about YouTube is that, in all of its glory, it kind of is a machine. And it makes creators believe that we have to pump out content consistently, even at the cost of our life and our mental health and our happiness because if you don't, then you'll become irrelevant."

Fans were quick to share their support for Singh's decision to take a hiatus.

One said he thought it was "high time" that Singh did this.

Another chimed in to applaud Singh for finally taking a break after eight years of nonstop hustling.

One person put it simply: Singh's happiness is what should come first.

The support obviously touched Singh, who tweeted that she's excited to work on herself.

Here's to some well-deserved time off for one of YouTube's top stars.
