Post-presidency, the Obamas are not laying low.

In the three years following Barack Obama's presidential run the former first family have kept busy. Michelle Obama is touring her widely successful memoir Becoming, and even released a clothing line alongside the book's launch.

The happy couple are also using their platform to tell more diverse stories through their production company, Higher Ground Productions. They have Netflix productions in the works, and as of recently, a podcast deal inked with Spotify.

Spotify announced its deal with the former President's production company via Twitter.

In a statement from Spotify, the music streaming service revealed, "The Obamas formed Higher Ground to produce powerful stories to entertain, inform and inspire, and to lift up new, diverse voices in the entertainment industry."

Former President Obama said to Spotify, "We're excited about HIgher Ground Audio because podcasts offer an extraordinary opportunity to foster productive dialogue, make people smile and make people think, and, hopefully, bring us all a little closer together." How positiively positive, Barack.

The always supportive husband shared this message of love for his wife and Higher Ground Production co-founder on Mother's Day as she toured her book.

The duo will lend their voices to some of the podcasts, but ultimately they want to develop diverse new shows that share different stories.

"President and Mrs. Obama will develop, produce, and lend their voices to select podcasts, connecting them to listeners around the world on wide-ranging topics," Spotify's statement reads.

No word on if the production company is an entire family affair, but it is the product of the couple.

Spotify is thrilled to partner with the influential married couple. "President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are two of the world’s most important voices and it is a privilege to be working with them to identify and share stories that will inspire our global audience, which looks to Spotify for unique, breakthrough content," said Spotify's Chief Content Officer, Dawn Ostroff in the statement.

Michelle Obama is staying busy with her book tour, telling her own story. But, she is making time to listen to others as well.

The former First Lady shared in Spotify's statement that, "We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to amplify voices that are too often ignored or silenced altogether, and through Spotify, we can share those stories with the world."

"Our hope is that through compelling, inspirational storytelling, Higher Ground Audio will not only produce engaging podcasts, but help people connect emotionally and open up their minds—and their hearts."

Michelle Obama is an icon in feminism and shares how she wants to empower women in this Instagram video. The Obamas production company, Higher Ground, is run by two women and likely women's stories will be shared in the upcoming podcast.

Obama addressed one popular question to her Instagram followers that she gets about her memoir, how to empower women. "Empowering each other is a big question and can take a lot of forms, but one thing I know is that it's up to us to be there for each other—especially those who often feel overlooked—because when someone shows genuine interest in your growth and development, it can make all the difference in the world," she writes.

Spotify's Chief Content Officer, Ostroff, wrote in the statement that part of the Obamas' core goal is to  "to highlight underrepresented and indispensable narratives..."

The Obamas' charitable organization The Obama Foundation already attempts to tell underrepresented stories.

In the organization's Twitter bio the mission statement reads, "Our mission is to inspire people to take action, empower them to change their world for the better, and connect them so they can achieve more together."

The Foundation celebrated the Chicago Public Schools, and organized events to help make a positive impact. Stories like these will most likely be shared on the upcoming podcast, and prepare to have many more mic-drop level quotes from Michelle like this, "Courage can be contagious and hope can take on a life of its own."

Higher Ground Productions already announced its involvement with Netflix and has seven projects in the works including a movie about Frederick Douglas.

The upcoming projects, according to the New York Times, include documentaries, film adaptations, a fiction drama series, and a children's series. In a statement to Netflix, Michelle Obama revealed she is excited about the upcoming releases. "We love this slate because it spans so many different interests and experiences, yet it’s all woven together with stories that are relevant to our daily lives."

"We think there’s something here for everyone—moms and dads, curious kids, and anyone simply looking for an engaging, uplifting watch at the end of a busy day. We can’t wait to see these projects come to life — and the conversations they’ll generate," Michelle said.
