Fans have noticed Selena Gomez and Niall Horan spending a significant amount of time together in the past month, but everybody needs to take a breath. Reportedly, the two are just friends and have been for years.

Celebrities with the kinds of fanbases that Gomez and Horan have are naturally going to be subject to intense shipping, especially considering their history. Horan called Gomez his first celebrity crush when he was getting his start in the industry, sparking relationship rumors at the beginning.

A few photos have circulated of the duo, and, honestly, I bet these two are just messing with fans at this point. A source told E! News that they're just friends, and the former One Direction member cleared up the rumors in an interview of his own.

The recent rumors began after a photo was shared of Horan with his arm around Sel-Go in a group photo.

A mutual friend posted a photo of the crew together after dinner. Gomez and Horan happened to be standing next to each other, which had fans in a frenzy. The cozied-up pose was too much to handle, and the dating rumors started.

Paparazzi spotted Gomez visiting Horan's LA home on October 9.

Gomez and Horan got together this week too, a few days after the rumors began swirling. But some reports suggest that a big group got together at the singer's home.

In 2015, the two were reportedly dating for a short period of time, and this is the first time since then that they've been linked. But even in 2015, the two denied the rumors, with Gomez telling Entertainment Weekly that they were just friends, even though eyewitnesses spotted them kissing at a party.

In a recent radio interview, Horan said they're just friends, and no music collabs are coming.

Horan laughed off the rumors and explained that they really were just at a friends' dinner together. "We're friends. We have the same group of friends. We hang out all the time. The one photo that was ever taken got posted. We're good friends. No collaborations as of yet. I know she's been doing some music too. We were just out for dinner," he said. But he did reveal that the pop star was one of his first crushes, along with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

So, no, they're probably not dating, and music doesn't seem likely. But fans will continue to ship.

No matter how much the two deny the rumors, the fans will continue to ship. Plus, they already have a couple name coined — Siall. "I don’t care what anyone said I ship Siall so hard," one fan account tweeted.

Another fan shared Horan's Instagram Story supporting his "friend." It does seem a little flirty, but at this point, they could be just messing with us.

Horan posed with a billboard of Gomez and wrote, "Hello there Sel @selenagomez." So he does have a cute nickname for her, but that doesn't mean they're dating. But, again, fans are here for it. Someone shared the saved Story, and tweeted, "Niall Horan + Selena Gomez? I have to SUPPORT!"

Clearly, they're fans of each other, but it looks like (for now) everything is platonic.

Gomez gave Horan a shout-out on her Instagram right after the group photo was posted, which added even more fuel to the fire for fans. But E! News heard it from a source close to the duo that things are totally casual right now, and no romantic feelings are there. "Selena and Niall are not dating and have been hanging out as friends... They have always been good friends and have kept in touch throughout the years," the outlet's insider said.

But one thing fans can possibly look forward to: Apparently they have talked about collaborating musically in the future. "They both always have been very supportive of each other's music and have talked about collaborating before," the source said.

Fingers crossed this relationship is a musical one, because those two voices belong together.
