Simone Biles ESPN Tweet

Female athletes being overlooked is nothing new, but professional gymnast Simone Biles isn't standing for it. She recently called out one of ESPN's most popular shows for excluding female athletes in a tweet about the best athletes of all time.

It further proves that in too many industries, women are underappreciated.

It all began when ESPN's SportsCenter reposted an image from a well-known artist who goes by @dayxsleep on Instagram via their Twitter page.

In it, a slew of well-known and highly accomplished male athletes including LeBron James, Tom Brady, Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, and many more. The post was meant to pay homage to the "GOATS," which stands for "greatest of all time."

Gymnast Simone Biles noticed that there were no women included in the image, and responded.

In response to the now-deleted tweet, she wrote, "There are so many women I can think of that belong in this photo yet there are none." In response, she received an outpouring of support from those also disappointed in SportsCenter's decision to repost.

When Today reached out to Biles to ask what female athletes she would have included, she listed Serena Williams, Katie Ledecky, Simone Manuel, Sue Bird, and Megan Rapinoe, just to name a few.

Again, the page has since deleted the tweet, but it further speaks to the continued downplaying of women's contributions in sports.
