What is it about celebrities posting pictures with their kids that turns the internet into "experts" who have the audacity to shame moms on their parenting? Whatever the reason, it continues to be abundant, and the latest internet victim of mom-shaming was Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi.
Polizzi got her star status as a fan-favorite character on MTV's mid-'00s reality series Jersey Shore. The 4'8" spitfire gave fans quotable lines such as, "Where's the beach?" The beloved series spurned plenty of spinoffs and inspired new reality shows. Now, she's putting her partying days behind her and is a mom to three young kids.
Not that she needed to explain herself, but she clapped back at one hater and completely schooled him.
"You not suppose to drink alcohol if you breastfeeding your baby," one troll wrote in her comments. She's obviously not drinking and breastfeeding at the same time, so this comment was irrelevant from the start.
"You're not a mom," she replied. "I allow myself to have a few glasses once a week to stay sane with 3 kids. I do what's necessary to clean my milk for my baby. Let a mawma live and keep being 17."
Some followers were completely in support of the reality star's drinking habits.
"Pump and dump, what I'm doing tonight ... mama needs a drink after 10 months of not drinking #cheers," another follower commented.
Polizzi replied, "amen sista." It's completely acceptable for new moms to drink post-pregnancy, and if they breastfeed, they just need to make sure the milk is clean, which obviously Polizzi knows to do.
Still, some commenters went overboard.
A few followers were a tad dramatic, to say the least. One commenter wrote, "I'm reporting you to CPS TODAY hope they take your kids and give them to someone more responsible."
Ugh, this comment is so sick. The former Jersey Shore fan favorite shouldn't have to deal with people like this, but unfortunately it's a regular occurrence in her feed.
Polizzi has had three children, and they all are turning out just fine. People need to calm down.
"This is the most ignorant picture I've ever come across!!!! Your not getting the mom of the year award!!!" another troll commented on her picture.
First of all, she posted this for a laugh, not to show off what a great mom she is. And second, the mom of three knows exactly how to take care of her own kids. She doesn't need ruthless internet trolls telling her that she's a bad mom when that's entirely not the case.
Of course, she did have some supportive fans — one of which actually provided a really helpful tip.
"Next time use a straw! So much easier to reach every last drop of wine," a fellow mom commented on her post. Polizzi has been in the public eye for years now, so she knows how to shrug off hate, but mom-shamers should be shamed themselves. Those kinds of negative hate comments are unacceptable.
