The majority of us were confused when the romance between Jake Paul and Tana Mongeau began. On the heels of a relationship with Bella Thorne, Mongeau seemed to jump headfirst into her relationship with Paul, being engaged and married in just a matter of months. So needless to say, when they did announce their split, fans weren't necessarily surprised, but they did want an explanation.

Now we may have that explanation, and it's not as black and white as anyone would have thought.

Tana Mongeau and Jake Paul's relationship has been treacherous, to say the least.

The whirlwind romance that began last year resulted in a marriage just a few months later. However, in January, the two announced that they would be separating. "Ok i don’t rly know how to do a 'we’re taking a break' post & this is weird as f*ck," Mongeau said in a post. "I’m happy to still be able to sit with Jake and laugh as we do this- but for right now we both are taking a break to focus on our own very crazy lives..."

But people haven't really gotten an explanation for their split.

Back in December, Mongeau posted a video to YouTube detailing what she said was a struggle with her mental health that wasn't made any better by her troubles with Paul. "I am so unhappy with the way my relationship with Jake looks in the public eye," she said of the dwindling romance.

But now it seems we may have gotten a little more clarity.

At least kind of. On the latest episode of her show MTV No Filter: Tana Mongeau, she speaks candidly about the relationship to her manager. "Jake's in a very different place of life than where he was when I fell for him and I feel like he just doesn't have time for me anymore," Mongeau explained. "I feel like Jake has been slowly—from the moment I met him—transforming into a different person. But it's like now I'm sitting here like eight months in or whatever like, 'I don't even f*cking know you anymore.'"

However, not everyone is crazy about Paul even still being a factor for the show.

"I really love tana mongeau but her mtv show is literally just jake paul being a douche and making tana unhappy, and tana being a huge asshole to jordan for no reason," someone tweeted. "I said what i said."

But some feel that Mongeau keeps him around for clicks and views.

"She's exploiting their relationship for clicks while pretending to be a victim who Jake manipulated," a critic said. "Tana is behind the way this season & last season went. It's not just the titles, it's the direction of the show. It's strategically anti-Jake Paul for views. She's underhanded."

Well, this is the only explanation we're getting, folks.
