Taraji P. Henson really, really, really loved the Super Bowl 50 halftime show.
If you were on social media during Sunday's big game, you might have caught her effusive praise for the show, which featured Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, and Coldplay:
"YAAAAAAASSSSSS!!!!! #maroon5 is life to me!!! #superbowl50 #HappyCamper I am," she captioned an Instagram post.
Yes, the "Empire" actress mistook the British rockers for an American rock band. Instantly, the actress was deluged with messages letting her know she was praising the wrong group.
She took down the Instagram post, and followed it with this tweet:
It's such an adorable mistake, especially since her enthusiasm for "Maroon 5" is so sincere. (And if you're wondering if she praised Beyoncé, of course she did.)
But her explanation for the mix-up is even better. The Golden Globe-winning actress watched the game in a luxury suite while partaking in all the booze that comes with the best seats in the stadium.
She told Entertainment Tonight:
"I don't know if you know how it goes down in the suites. They put a lot of drinks in there Kool-Aid, lemonade, iced tea. I mixed it all and I sat there and I'm sitting with people who drank the Kool-Aid as well."
Cookie drank the Kool-Aid! How perfect.
Of course, Maroon 5 loved Henson's accidental shout-out:
I guess we shouldn't be surprised if Maroon 5 gets tapped to perform at 2017 Super Bowl Halftime Show. (And if Beyonce wants to return again, all the better!)
