In 2015, Taylor Swift made an emotional post to her Tumblr page to let fans know that her family had learned that her mother was diagnosed with cancer. Now another heartbreaking development has come forward.

Swift is extremely close to her family, especially to her mom, Andrea, who also serves as Swift's manager. In an interview with Variety, Swift revealed that her mom had also been diagnosed with a brain tumor amid her battle with the undisclosed type of cancer.

Swift's documentary will be released soon and could offer even more insight into her family's struggles with the illness. Plus, Swift shared that the film would feature elements of her career's politicization.

Taylor Swift has a close-knit family, and the heartbreaking news that her mom has been diagnosed with cancer has taken its toll.

Swift wrote in a now-deleted Tumblr post in 2015, "The results came in, and I’m saddened to tell you that my mom has been diagnosed with cancer... I’d like to keep the details of her condition and treatment plans private, but she wanted you to know."

After numerous chemotherapy treatments and battling the disease for years, things had been looking up. Until Swift's mother relapsed in 2019; now Swift has revealed that her mother has been diagnosed with a brain tumor as well.

In an emotional interview with Variety, Swift gave the harrowing details.

"I mean, we don’t know what is going to happen. We don’t know what treatment we’re going to choose. It just was the decision to make at the time, for right now, for what’s going on," Swift said in the interview.

"While she was going through treatment, they found a brain tumor. And the symptoms of what a person goes through when they have a brain tumor is nothing like what we’ve ever been through with her cancer before. So it’s just been a really hard time for us as a family."

Taylor Swift's new documentary will feature scenes that discuss her mother's illness, as filming took place during her relapse.

Swift and her family discovered that Andrea's cancer had returned while filming the documentary, and many fans will watch in hopes of seeing signs that she'll be OK. For Swift, her mom isn't just a beloved familial figure, but she's also her support system.

"Everyone loves their mom; everyone’s got an important mom … But for me, she’s really the guiding force. Almost every decision I make, I talk to her about it first. So obviously it was a really big deal to ever speak about her illness," Swift said.

Andrea has become extremely popular with fans, who love to spot her on tour.

Swift's mom is beloved by fans, too. The artist has decided to limit her touring days mostly to be with her family during this difficult time. Instead of her normal lengthy world tours, Lover will be limited to a few US dates and the European festival circuit.

Everyone is sending their love and support to the Swift family.

Fans and followers have reached out to support the Swift family after hearing about this difficult news. One person wrote, "My heart breaks for Taylor Swift and her mother Andrea. I'll never forget where I was, what I was doing, what I was wearing when they told me my mom's cancer spread to her brain. It was just most gut wrenching sucker punch of my entire life. I am crying for them."

We're thinking about you, Taylor! And we hope your mom gets better soon.
