Zendaya has been using her platform for social activism since she first hit the scene. She's been a champion of the Black Lives Matter movement, walked in the Women's March, and she's now being honored for her dedication to her LGBTQ fans.

This coming October she will be presented with the 2017 Gay, Lesbian, & Straight Education Network Respect Gamechanger Award, according to Hollywood.com

Zendaya's never been afraid to use her voice and stand up for herself.

Zendaya recently took to the Teen Choice Awards stage to encourage all young people to do the same.

“With all the injustice and the hatred and everything that is happening not only in the world, but in our country right now, I need all you young people, I need all you guys to be educated, I need you to listen, I need you to pay attention," she said. "...I need you to go ahead and understand that you have a voice and it is okay to use it when you see something bad happening.”
She not only uses her voice to call out injustices, she also uses it to uplift and celebrate voices that are being threatened and attacked.

When a homophobic troll told Zendaya she looked like a "gay dude wearing makeup," she not only effortlessly shut him down, she retweeted flawless selfies of all her LGBTQ fans who jumped to her defense.

She aptly responded to the tweet by pointing out that she took it as a compliment, not an insult.

When her fans posted their own selfies to support her, she tweeted, "All this gorgeousness in my mentions."

This is exactly why we love Zendaya so much.

We're so excited that she's being recognized for her invaluable and important use of her platform!
