Even after women were allowed to participate in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, women are still banned from playing on any of Saudi Arabia's state-organized or national teams. In fact, women are not even allowed to attend Saudi Arabia's national tournaments, Quartz reported following the Olympics.

So hopefully this new law is just the beginning of more significant reforms for women and girls in Saudi Arabia, because Saudi Arabia's current provisions on existing as a woman are unjust, oppressive, and unacceptable.
