I'm a millennial, so I *love* taking selfies. I just barely missed the boat on the MySpace mirror pics, but I was all about taking photos on my flip phone.
When front-facing cameras were introduced, you better believe I was on board. And while selfies started as grainy, dark photos, now they're just as good as normal photos. Selfie technology has advanced a lot, but there's still one major issue — the flash. When it's too dark for a normal photo, you can either risk it and end up with a super dark picture, or turn to the front-facing flash for help and end up looking washed out and scary!
Enter LuMee — a company that creates light-up phone cases! (They also make light-up power banks and a variety of other phone accessories.)
I knew I had to get my hands on one of these cases, so I went to the website and ordered the gorgeous purple marble LuMee duo.
When my LuMee case arrived in the mail, I couldn't wait to open it up and try it out. In addition to the case, there was also a charger in the box (for charging the case when it runs out of battery).
The LuMee duo has lights on both sides of the case, which makes it perfect for using the back camera and the front-facing camera. The lights are super bright, and have a slightly yellow tone, which ensures that you don't end up looking washed out in photos.
LuMee makes cases for a variety of phones: iPhone 6 — iPhone 11 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy, and Google Pixel 3 XL. They come in a ton of different styles, from marble to mermaid to mirror and more. There's truly a style for everyone.
I have an iPhone 11, so both cameras are really good. I wanted to test the LuMee case by taking a photo in my bedroom without any lights on. While the photos ended up looking similar in brightness, *I* looked so much better in the photo taken with the LuMee case. Look at that highlight on my cheekbone! So impressive.
In addition to testing the selfie light, I wanted to test the light on the back of the phone as well. I made myself this half birthday cake for my half birthday (I've been stuck in my home for way too many days) and wanted to photograph it for my Insta story. The lights in my apartment are all overhead lights, so it was completely impossible to get a good photo — with the LuMee, all the ugly shadows created from the overhead lights were gone, and my cake looked way better!
