Twitter is the home of many, many memes. And after over a decade in business, it's racked up some of our favorite internet moments.

As we enter a brand-new decade, the hashtag #TwitterMomentsOfTheDecade started trending with everyone's absolute favorite tweets, memes, viral videos, and more. Honestly, it was exactly the kind of 2010s nostalgia we needed. As we say goodbye to a confusing but influential era, let's send the decade off with some of the funniest and most bizarre viral moments from Twitter.

These viral trends are nowhere near from over, as Baby Yoda continues to gain traction with each The Mandalorian episode. But I don't know if any can top some of these tweets, which are my all-time favorite. In 2020 we may have to turn to new platforms, like TikTok, to find our viral content.

Drake's "Hotline Bling" was turned into countless memes.

When "Hotline Bling" released in 2016, Drake sent out a video that thousands couldn't help but meme-ify. His dance moves looked way too much like Wii tennis players and it quickly went viral. At that point, Drake had to embrace the video for its viral nature.

The egg is an accurate representation of my life.

In the last few years, ASMR has become increasingly popular, as well as watching things be crushed or broken apart in super-satisfying ways. This press was meant to smash the fragile egg and send shivers down viewers' spines, but it just rotated, managing to survive without a crack. The hilarious moment ended up being way too relatable and started trending.

"When someone asks me 'how’s it goin' and I say 'it’s goin' this is what I mean," one person wrote. Another's tweet reads, "Avoiding the jaws of depression and not really thriving but doing alright."

When this young girl went viral for her Britney Spears tribute, of course she had to remake it 10 years later.

This Britney Spears dance went viral on YouTube and quickly found its way to Twitter. Instead of hiding in embarrassment, the woman who made this when she was in elementary school decided to remake the dance and killed it. "How can we forget this iconic legend #TwitterMomentsOfTheDecade," one person shared.

Speaking of Brit, there's this insane tweet with two very opposite energies.

2011 Britney was a little confused about the ramifications of global warming. She was also becoming obsessed with Lady Gaga, like everyone else. But the tweet with the two together made absolutely no sense, so of course it was trending. "Does anyone think global warming is a good thing? I love Lady Gaga. I think she's a really interesting artist," Spears wrote.

Pope Francis ... I hate to tell you, it's only gotten worse.

Pope Francis, on the other hand, was all too aware of Earth's rapidly changing climate. His dramatic 2015 tweet is relatable on multiple fronts, "The earth, our home, is beginning to look more and more like an immense pile of filth." I wish I could tell the 2015 pope that things have gotten better, but maybe we'll turn it around at the start of the new decade.

Sure, the original video was great, but the remakes and remixes of "A'int Nobody Got Time For Dat" were truly iconic.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt parodied viral meme moments like this one by creating a remix of a fake news story. This memory, however, is very much real. This woman went viral for recounting her experience with escaping a house fire, and everyone began quoting her final line "a'int nobody got time for that." It was also remade into some hilarious music video remixes, like this one.

Rihanna was subtweeting before subtweeting was even a thing.

2012 Rihanna was teaching me about shade before I was even ready for it. Anyone who followed Rih-rih was definitely subtweeting their boyfriends in high school. "Rihanna: The Original Queen of Twitter," a fan shared.

Nothing makes me laugh harder than failed news interviews, and this snowy hipster one takes the cake.

These two runners impressed one reporter, who stopped to ask them about running in a blizzard. "It's the perfect texture for running," said one of the runners before promptly falling flat on her back on an icy road.

Pet memes have always been top-knotch.

These two chaotic images perfectly sum up what it's like to have a dog. That is if you're walking around wearing giant Pikachu costumes every day. The user wrote, "My brother got a Pikachu suit and my dog attacked him."

When Cher was way too honest about what she did for Madonna's birthday.

Cher and Madonna have infamously feuded for decades, so when one person asked how Cher would celebrate her enemy's birthday, she was honest. "I got a colonic. RT @lolyabitch @cher how did you celebrate Madonna's birthday?"

This is the kind of shade that has shaped a generation and I'm here for it. I can't wait to see what the next decade has in store for viral content.
