But Lovato was especially thrilled to find out that she's 1% African.

Twitter, however, didn't want to hear it.

The internet immediately started dragging Lovato for her "discovery."

Upon noticing the controversy, Lovato jumped back on Twitter to clarify her tweet.

"Just thought it was cool and totally random," the singer insisted. "Some of y'all are mean af. Twitter sucks."

She posted her DNA results to Twitter in an attempt to defend herself against the backlash.
