Anyone who's spent even a short amount of time on YouTube is probably familiar with Eugenia Cooney. The style and beauty vlogger with a penchant for all things nerdy and goth has been the subject of YouTube's unforgiving gossip mill for years due to her visibly thin appearance.

Fans and haters alike constantly barraged her with demands that she eat more or verbal concerns that she could die from starvation. Others were ultimately concerned that her appearance was promoting an unhealthily thin body standard for her young female fans. Though the latter concerns were valid, Cooney took the harsher criticisms in stride and all the while denied having a disorder.

Then, in January, Cooney announced that she would be taking a break from YouTube and other social media to focus on her health. This week, after more than half a year of radio silence, she made her return to the video streaming platform to announce that she is, indeed, working to recover from an eating disorder. She also agreed to an in-depth interview with fellow vlogger Shane Dawson, in which she opened up about going to rehab and how her recovery has been so far.

Thanks to her frankness, honesty, and positivity on the topic, Cooney is gaining fans more rapidly than ever. The YouTube community has put pause on their negative commentary on her body and is now trying to uplift her in any way possible. See some of the heartwarming reactions in the vide below.
