The Golden Globes have a reputation as a bit boring — the conservative little sister of the more glamorous Oscars.
From over-the-top huge hair to the darkest lips imaginable, the stars brought their SUPER EXTRA beauty game to the 2017 Golden Globes red carpet. Was it excessive? Yes. Do you really need to see it all, up close and personal? Absolutely, yes.
Tracee Ellis Ross ended the entire world with flawless red lips, and enough diamonds to sink a pirate ship.
"Her look is glowing skin with a full brow and a bold lip to finish it," said Tracee's makeup artist, Jamie Greenberg, who custom mixed that AMAZING warm red lipstick out of two shades of L'Oreal Infallible Lip Paints ($10 each, Ulta) — Orange Envy and DIY Red.
And OF COURSE I had to include this photo of those rings, because DAMN GIRL.
Priyanka Chopra's blackened raspberry lips were a goth spring dream.
Makeup artist Stephanie Brooke Barnes custom mixed this amazing deep raspberry lip color — she used equal parts Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour ($28, Sephora) in An Affair and Seduction.
And Sarah Jessica Parker paid tribute to Princess Leia with a perfectly disheveled fishtail braid crown.
Her smoky cerulean eye look was created with Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Sticks ($29 each, Sephora) in Charcoal, Moonlight, and Tuxedo.
Lily Collins' intense red lip was a dramatic complement to her romantic updo.
Braids and teasing and twists, OH MY! My teenage self would have been all over this for prom hair. That red lip, btw, is Lancome L'Absolu Rouge in Souvenir ($32, Sephora).
Olivia Culpo's high-octane bronze eyes are the stuff dreams are made of.
L'Oreal celebrity makeup artist (and Beyonce BFF) Sir John was the man behind this look — he created that AMAZING highlight by mixing L'Oreal True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator ($13 each, L'Oreal) in shades Ice and Golden, then applying to her cheekbones, Cupid's bow, and down the bridge of her nose.
Michelle Williams' super-sleek platinum pixie is the ultimate in Sugar Plum Fairy glamour.
That velvet choker is giving me "The Green Ribbon" vibes, so I'm obviously very into it.
Issa Rae's incredible hair, smoky brows, and bold lips won the night for me.
Though she rocked nude-pink lips at the ceremony, I kinda like this cherry-red after party situation a little better! Also, we need to talk about her dewy skin; she looks photoshopped IRL, and I covet whatever primer she's using.
Mirror, Mirror, on the wall — who was the most extra of them all?
