No more waiting folks; our newest Little Mermaid has been named! And it's not one of Hollywood's redhead bombshells. Instead, it's a dreadlocked, R&B–singing beauty who is sure to deliver a jaw-dropping performance. If you're not familiar with the singing group Chloe X Halle  by now, we suggest you get acclimated, because one of them is about to become a household name. 

Today, Disney officially revealed who will play Ariel in the upcoming live-action rendition of The Little Mermaid. 

Halle Bailey of the singing phenomenon Chloe X Halle will be playing everyone's favorite mermaid, and one thing we can expect is some angelic singing. The film's director, Rob Marshall, expressed his excitement in an official statement.

"After an extensive search, it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance — plus a glorious singing voice — all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role," Marshall said in a statement.

And in case you haven't noticed, Bailey is representing for black girl magic, and fans can't contain their excitement. 

"Remember what happened the last time Disney disregarded the race of the cartoon characters for a live adaptation? Cause I sure do! This is how I know Halle Bailey is going to slay the role of Ariel in The Little Mermaid! Excited to see how the rest of cast pans out too!" an excited Bailey fan tweeted. 

Can this day really get any better?

Though there's no word on an official release date, we'll be able to expect Awkwafina, Jacob Tremblay, and potentially Melissa McCarthy starring alongside the talented 19-year-old. Ariel with dreadlocks? Count us in!
