Cardi B, Jennifer Lopez, Lili Reinhart, and more are set to star in a movie about con-artist strippers, and we could not be happier. Hustlers will be a movie based on a 2015 story by New York magazine in which (and this is a true story) a group of women strippers banded together to hustle money from their wealthy male clients who work on Wall Street.

The movie reportedly starts filming on March 22 and is set to be released next year. The movie's writer and director, Lorene Scafaria, told Deadline she was very excited to start working on the film and fans are very excited to watch.

This isn't Cardi B's first acting role, by the way. Besides being on reality TV, she once had a role on an episode of Being Mary Jane. She's always been vocal about how she used to be a stripper — and that she isn't ashamed of it — making this her perfect big-screen debut.

A movie about con-artist strippers is coming to a theater near you, and we couldn't be happier about it.

If you've ever been interested in a movie about women who use their sexuality to hustle men out of their money, you're in luck. Cardi B, Lili Reinhart, and Jennifer Lopez are all set to start in a film about just that. Hustlers is about former strippers who use their club knowledge to scam money out of Wall Street workers.

The cast is full of some other big — nay, MASSIVE — names.

Constance Wu from Crazy Rich Asians and Julia Stiles of Silver Linings Playbook will also star in the movie. Keke Palmer, who's been on Scream Queens most recently, will also star in the movie. Trace Lysette of the Amazon Prime original show Transparent and Mette Towley of Cats may also join the film. But there's no word yet on what characters these women will play.

The movie's director is excited to begin working with the film's stars.

Lorene Scafaria is directing this film and she can't wait to start. “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with this dynamic group of women,” Scafaria told Deadline. “We’re grateful to have assembled such a powerhouse cast and can’t wait to start filming at the end of the week.” Scafaria has directed other films such as The Meddler and Seeking a Friend for the Rest of the World.

The movie will be shot in New York City.

Because these women will be stealing from men on Wall Street, it only makes sense for the film to be shot in New York City. It's being produced by STXfilms along with Lopez. Chairman of STXfilms Adam Fogelson told Deadline, “We could not have asked for a more exciting or talented lineup of performers to join our cast."

The movie was inspired by a real-life story first highlighted by a 2015 article from New York magazine.

Hustlers at Scores talks about a group of savvy New York City women who came together and used their sex appeal to steal from men. Jessica Pressler, the writer of the article, wrote that a former strip club manager said these women "stop believing men are real.... They are there for me to manipulate and take money from."

The empowerment this movie is going to provide is already sending the internet into a tizzy.

As this tweet says, the movie completely throws traditional gender roles out the window. This could easily be a fun movie about women taking control of situations by using the same power we're vilified for. Plus, it's directed and written by a woman and features a rather diverse crop of actresses.

This will be Cardi B's first-ever major acting role.

No, Love & Hip Hop doesn't count. Cardi talks about her stripper past pretty often, so this may be her most profitable stripping-related venture yet. Cardi has said in multiple occasions that she made a lot of money stripping and views it as a real job. Stripping was there for her when she needed it, and now it's giving back to her even more.

The only other time fans got a taste of Cardi's acting chops was on an episode of Being Mary Jane.

Back in 2017, she played a reality show star named Mercedes in a single episode of the show. Mary Jane, played by Gabrielle Union, was supposed to interview Mercedes, but she heard some comments Mercedes said about her that she didn't like. The two got into a confrontation. It went viral.

Cardi's real-life stripping experiences could contribute to the movie's accuracy.

Cardi is an open book, and why she became a stripper is no secret. When she was younger, she was living with a boyfriend who beat her. She dropped out of school and needed the income to get herself out of his mom's house. In this interview with Vlad TV, she spoke about how women are quick to move in with a boyfriend when they don't know them that well. Her experience, we hope, can help her steer the film's producers toward an even more accurate and raw representation of strippers.
