Sophie Turner, better known as Sansa Stark in HBO's "Game of Thrones," has already made an incredible name for herself. And now, she is finally getting her full moment to shine: It was officially announced that Turner will star in her own "X-Men: Apocalypse" sequel.
Turner will "reprise" her role of Jean Grey — more specifically, reincarnating as Dark Phoenix.
Which makes sense as we saw her channel her "darker" powers to destroy the bad guy in "X-Men: Apocalypse." And the writing was on the wall for some time, according to Turner.
“The seeds of Phoenix definitely are planted in there," she told Entertainment Weekly. "She can’t control her powers unless she either fully stops them or lets them all loose, and that’s kind of Phoenix. I think in future movies to come we’ll definitely see a bit more of that.”
The film is set to hit theaters November 2, 2018, and while we are thrilled that Turner is getting her own flick, it is a little worrisome in terms of Jean Grey's character development.
There are some intricate details of Jean Grey and the Phoenix force that could foolishly go unaddressed.
But for now, we'll just bask in the excitement of Turner getting solo screen time.
