Early Wednesday morning (December 7), One Direction member Louis Tomlinson's mother, Johannah Deakin, lost her battle with leukemia at 43.

"Earlier this year Johannah was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of leukaemia that required immediate and continuous treatment. We respectfully request that the family are given time and space to grieve in private," her husband Dan Deakin said in a statement to Us Weekly.

"Johannah was first and foremost a truly amazing mother to seven children—Louis, Lottie, Félicité, and two sets of twins, Phoebe and Daisy and Ernest and Doris — whose individual talents and success are testament to the principles and beliefs she instilled in them. She was also an incredibly proud grandmother to Freddie."

Tomlinson was previously scheduled to perform his new song "Just Hold On" during the finale of "X Factor UK" this Saturday (December 10).

Amazingly, the 24-year-old decided to keep to his work commitments and opted to perform the song in honor of his late mother. His new EDM track is in collaboration with DJ Steve Aoki and it's a far cry from anything Tomlinson did with One Direction. The emotional lyrics are even more heartbreaking now after Deakin's death.

In one verse, he sings:

"What do you do when a chapter ends? / Do you close the book and never read it again? / Where do you go when your story’s done? / You can be who you want or who you’ll become / If it all goes wrong, darling just hold on / The sun goes down and it comes back up / The world still turns no matter what.”

Tomlison already received heartfelt condolences from his former band members Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Liam Payne.

And his fans have shown their support by starting the hashtag #RIPJohannah on Twitter, and are making it their mission to get his song to number one.

We're sure his loyal fans will succeed at not only making the song a hit, but will be a source of comfort to Tomlinson through this hard time.

Our hearts go out to Louis and his family.
