The annual Miss Universe pageant is just days away, and one contestant is attempting to do damage control after making insensitive remarks on Instagram.

Sarah Rose Summers, aka Miss USA, recently appeared in an Instagram Live video alongside fellow contestants Miss Colombia, Valeria Morales, and Miss Australia, Francesca Hung. In the video, Summers was mocking Miss Cambodia, Rern Sinat, and Miss Vietnam, H'Hen Nie, for not speaking English.

While Summers has since apologized, the internet is not about to just let this one go.

If you're anything like me and haven't watched a beauty pageant in literal decades, you might be surprised to learn that Miss Universe is going down this weekend.

The United States is being represented by Sarah Rose Summers, a 24-year-old from Nebraska (which, fun fact, is actually my home state).

But Summers is in hot water for making insensitive remarks in a recent Instagram Live video.

In the video, Summers asks her fellow contestants, Miss Colombia and Miss Australia, "What do you think of Miss Vietnam (H'Hen Nie)?

"She's so cute and she pretends to know so much English and then you ask her a question after having a whole conversation with her and she goes [nods and smiles]," Summers said before laughing. "She's adorable."

Later on in the video, Summers brings up Miss Cambodia, Rern Sinat.

"Miss Cambodia is here and doesn't speak any English and not a single other person speaks her language. Can you imagine?" Summers remarked. "Francesca (Miss Australia) said that would be so isolating and I said yes and just confusing all the time." She then added, "Poor Cambodia."

The whole cringeworthy video can still be watched below.

Backlash to the video was swift, with many Americans saying they were "ashamed" to be represented by Summers.

One person even suggested that she be disqualified for her "racial mockery."

Someone else said that Summers is a "Trump American" with a "lack of global awareness."

But some folks are having none of it.

Hopefully Summers learned a valuable lesson here: Don't criticize people for not speaking English otherwise you will get dragged, and rightfully so.
