And speaking of facial oils, my newest obsession is the Velvette Dry Skin Night Facial Oil, $30 — $72 at Velvette Organics.

As a beauty editor, brands send me a lot of products to test but this facial oil is one of my recent favorites. The Velvette Organics Dry Skin Night Facial Oil is a sumptuous, deeply beneficial oil that I've loved using all over my face. I apply it after exfoliating with an AHA, and now that the weather is getting cold, I apply a light layer over my moisturizer at night. Winter will be much more bearable with this oil.

Acure The Essentials Marula Oil, $15.99 at Ulta.

I've expounded on how much I adore the Acure Marula Oil before, but it bears repeating: This stuff is amazing. Marula oil is celebrated for its quick-absorbing but non-greasy feel, with antioxidants that your skin will love. In the winter, mix a couple of drops of this with your moisturizer and apply a generous layer at night. For $15.99, you can afford to use this oil liberally.

Last but not least, use a hydrating night mask for maximum dry skin victory like the Origins Drink Up-Intensive Overnight Mask, $26 at Ulta.

This is my holy grail overnight mask. The avocado cream is seriously hydrating and occlusive. It works with glycerin to seal in your night serum and facial oils. It also smells like avocado, so those with sensitive skin might not like the light fragrance. Still, this is the champagne of hydrating night masks, and one tube lasts a while.

On a particularly parched day, I'll even apply a very thin layer of it in the mornings when I plan on skipping makeup. It's so soothing, you'll want to bathe in it.

And if all else fails, the CeraVe Healing Ointment, $24.07 at Walmart will repair chapped, sad skin.

Sometimes, no matter what you do, winter winds will irritate your skin into oblivion. Soothe painful cracks, chaps, and flaky patches with the CeraVe Healing Ointment. It contains HA and ceramides to hydrate skin, but also petrolatum to seal the skin's moisture barrier during the natural healing process. It's thick, it's goopy, and it's occlusive, so use it at night. You can also apply this to other areas of the body that need winter love.
