Following the debut of her first album in eight years, "A Seat at the Table," Solange Knowles released two music videos for "Cranes in the Sky" and "Don't Touch My Hair" on Sunday.
Her honeyed voice and raw lyrics are gaining accolades from critics. LA Times music writer Garrick D. Kennedy calls the album "an ambitious meditation on black life," and Vanity Fair's Yohana Desta describes the visuals as "modern art in motion."
We couldn't agree more, and we'd add that Solange's personal style has never shined brighter. She wears over two dozen different outfits in the new videos — from a voluminous Acne Studios coat to a dress made entirely of yarn.
Keeping with the indie feel of her music, most outfits are custom, gender-neutral designs made by PHLEMUNS. Some ensembles are understated, others are jaw-dropping.
But all of Solange's outfits are absolutely breathtaking. Here's a closer look at every single outfit that she wears in her two new videos.
"Cranes in the Sky" is basically a 4-minute fashion show.
This "pink trash bag" smock was designed by Solange herself.
This puffy pink coat — created by artist and textile designer Nadine Goepfert — opens the video.
DO YOU DIE?!
More pink, as Solange meditates on a tree stub, as one does.
Solange wore LOQ shoes throughout the two videos.
Behold, Solange, the river goddess.
Forget Brothers Grimm — this is the stuff of fashion fairy tales.
A bare-faced Solange then stripped down to white intimates.
Who else can make leaves look this good?
"I fucked round and made a dress out of yarn," Solange wrote on Instagram.
This is one very long dress designed by momma Tina Knowles and friend Tim White based off of a 1999 dress by Issey Miyake.
LOUNGE WEAR GOALS.
Of course Tina Knowles had a hand in this gold fringe bedazzlement.
New York-based designer Anthony McDowell made two silver looks for Solange.
FACT: The two videos were shot across SEVENTY different filming locations.
Blink twice and you'll miss Solange dancing on the horizon in a metallic slip.
A rare lavender moment isn't overshadowed by the sea of pink.
Crisp whites contrast a Terracotta terrain.
Do I spy Solange in shiny gold body paint?
Welcome to "Don't Touch My Hair." The sweatpants are extra fly here.
"This hair is mine," she coos while twirling around in a white negligee.
She added a sheer scarf to the look in the following scene.
She also wears a similar negligee in gold.
We'd kill for an invite to this pool party.
All. White. Everything.
We need this burnt orange Acne Studios down coat.
The oversize white fur in the background was designed by Saulo Villela, the creative director of Adrienne Landau.
These custom sets are by L.A.-based indie designer PHLEMUNS.
PHLEMUNS has also worked with Justine Skye and Miley Cyrus.
Before the curtain, an orange leotard and thigh-high boots.
It's hard to believe that ALL of these looks came from just two videos.
But that's just how a Knowles does it, right?
