Goop universal standard collection

Gwyneth Paltrow's lifestyle brand Goop has decided to become more inclusive, as opposed to its normal means of catering to the thin and rich. The brand has teamed up with body-positivity powerhouse Universal Standard to create a five-piece clothing collection in sizes 00 to 40. Confused? Us too.

Goop announced the collaboration on Tuesday to an extremely bewildered audience. Goop readers were excited, but Universal Standard's loyal following was distraught.

Goop is widely known for its fat-shaming and fake-scientific content, as well as its "fast weight loss" advice. Paltrow herself is notoriously smug, fatphobic, and TBH, full of shit most of the time. Universal Standard, on the other hand, is leading the size-inclusive fashion revolution. They champion women of all sizes, shapes, and colors for being themselves. So, a partnership between the two brands makes little-to-no sense, and Universal Standard fans aren't just confused about it — they're pissed.

In fact, many have already disowned the brand for its poor-taste in partnership.

US cofounder Alexandra Waldman gave a little bit of insight as to why the brand collaborated with Goop. "Our goal is to bring true inclusivity to every part of the industry. For Universal Standard, our mission of fashion freedom shouldn’t be isolated to our brand — we want everyone to embrace the idea that all women, regardless of size, deserve equal access. We’re thrilled to work with Goop to continue manifesting this idea and changing the industry for the better."

It's definitely a bizarre next step for Universal Standard, but perhaps it's a nudge in the right direction for Goop. After all, it can only go up from the bottom, right?

Whether you're curious, confused, or genuinely excited, the line is available to shop now. But it's incredibly expensive, as are most things at Goop. There are five "elegant essentials," including a wool tuxedo jacket ($335), a brushed-back hi-low dress ($295), a brushed-back jumpsuit ($295), wool cropped trousers ($225), and a wool peacoat jacket ($395), all available in sizes 00 to 40.
