Get ready to have in-depth discussions about which Baby-Sitters Club member you and your friends are, again.

The nostalgic book series from the '80s and '90s is being reimagined as a Netflix series. While it's already been adapted into a film and short TV series back in the '90s, it's time to revisit this iconic story. The Netflix series is coming later this year and features a diverse cast representing the original friends in The Baby-Sitters Club.

The cast has also been announced, and all of the girls involved are relatively new to the film and television industry. Ann M. Martin, the author of the classic novels, has signed on as a writer and producer for the series.

Netflix announced the upcoming series in February, but now we have cast and release date deets.

Netflix released its first poster for the upcoming series, which is set to debut later this year. The poster is based on the very first novel of the series' cover, with all of the girls gathered around a landline phone on a bed. Even from this first poster it's obvious which character is which.

Listen to the entire series on Audible.

Elle Fanning reads the first five stories of the 131 titles-long series. Catch up on the nostalgic books before the Netflix series drops. "Cool!. I'll be waiting for it. Glad the original books are on Audible, so I know what a lot of them are about. Great cast too, even if I don't recognize the names yet," one fan tweeted.

Alicia Silverstone will play Kristy Thomas's single mother.

Silverstone, who most famously played Cher in Clueless, will play the selfless single mother to Kristy Thomas. The actor is a perfect choice to take on the role of an adult in this film, being a '90s star herself.

Mark Feuerstein plays Silverstone's love interest.

Elizabeth Thomas-Brewer (Silverstone) has a love interest in Watson Brewer, played by Feuerstein from Royal Pains.

Netflix has also shared a few first looks at the girls.

Sophie Grace (Kristy Thomas), Malia Baker (Mary-Anne Spier), Momona Tamada (Claudia Kishi), Shay Rudolph (Stacey McGill), and Xochitl Gomez (Dawn Schafer) are each of the Baby-Sitters Club members. The series has been given a diverse update from the hyper-homogeneous original artwork for the books.

The girls look like they fit each of their characters' looks perfectly.

Claudia Kishi is notorious for her outrageous fashion and bold color choices, which is reflected in Tamada's bright orange jumpsuit and gold Doc Martens. Mary-Anne Spier (Baker) is wearing her hair in the two neat braids that the bookworm would wear. Meanwhile, Dawn Schafer, the tomboy of the group, is wearing a baseball cap and plain clothes.

Right now it's unclear in which era it will be set.

Part of what made the Baby-Sitters Club was that they used one landline to book all of their clients. Now it seems that would be rendered useless. A contemporary Baby-Sitters Club would use a group text or a Facebook group.

One reader noted on Twitter, "Just finished reading the first original Babysitter’s Club with my 6yo, and there is another business model that smartphones destroyed bc I guess they’d just be a group text now?"

Netflix describes the upcoming series as: "In this contemporary take on the beloved book series, five best friends launch a baby-sitting business that's big on fun and adventure." It'll be interesting to see how they handle the technological updates.
