My goodness, my Gilmore! Netflix dropped its first full-length trailer for "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" on Tuesday (October 25), and fans were treated to a glimpse of what everyone's favorite Stars Hollow townies — plus, the three central Gilmore gals — are up to in 2016. Practically all our faves were packed into this two-minute trailer. So who seems to have changed the most?
For starters, Lorelai and Rory's metabolisms sure haven't slowed.
The trailer opens with Lorelai uttering possibly the most Gilmore words ever: "Did we order Chinese, Greek, and Italian food last night?" We're glad to know the passing of 10 years doesn't seem to have altered this duo's dietary habits.
And Lane is seen jammin' on her beloved drums.
Something about that curtain backdrop, though, makes it seem like this gig is of pretty low glamour. And the only way the show's Season 7 writers could be forgiven in our book for that ghastly pregnancy/marriage arc is if Lane was now a full-fledged rockstar. Based off this glimpse alone, that doesn't seem to be the case.
And for her part, Emily now wears t-shirts and denim...?!
Well, this is an odd sight. Between inviting Kirk over for Friday's evening repast and her new 'drobe, it makes one wonder if we'll be seeing a new, more relaxed Emily in the revival. Clearly, she's undergoing some changes as she adjusts to life post-Richard's death.
And Sookie is facing her usual kitchen mishaps.
Interestingly, Jackson was the only central townsperson *not* to appear in the trailer. Does this mean he and Sookie aren't together anymore? Did she finally get fed up with that faux-vasectomy crap? Or did Stars Hollow's need for produce decline, and he's now simply off seeking more bountiful pastures?
Paris is back at Chilton, working a suit and no doubt rolling her eyes at the student body's incompetence.
"I had more potential in my little finger at their age than these brats could possibly fathom. The ability to effectively plot a life of world domination is wasted on the youth. *Sigh.*"
But it's the appearance of Jess that really has us buzzing.
In a moment that feels way too reminiscent of Season 6's "Let Me Hear Your Balalaikas Ringing Out," when Jess convinces Rory to go back to Yale, we see the two chatting over (non-coffee!) drinks about how lost she feels in life. Jess (who's workin' that long hair) encourages her that "she's still a contender," and there definitely still seems to be chemistry between these two. Certainly, he's given a longer and more significant feeling spot in the trailer than either Logan or Dean is. But don't get too far ahead of yourselves, Team Jess — we'll still have to wait until November 25 to find out just how far their chemistry extends.
