Riverdale fans usually cannot wait until their favorite CW show comes on each Wednesday, but the upcoming episode has emotions running high. Viewers will have a bittersweet moment this week when episode 19 of season three airs on April 24, as it will feature the late Luke Perry's final appearance on the show. Perry passed in early March to the devastation of his friends, family, costars, and fans.

People who love the Riverdale series get to see Perry's last act as Fred Andrews.

The show's creator, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, revealed the news on Twitter.

"This week’s #Riverdale is the last episode Luke filmed," he wrote. "As always, Fred’s imparting words of wisdom to Archie. A beautiful, true moment between a father and his son. Wish these scenes could go on forever."

Aguirre-Sacasa tweeted in March that the first episode of season three would be dedicated to Luke Perry.

"Going through pictures on my way to set. From the early days. With Luke in the middle. Our heart, always," he shared with followers. "Tonight’s episode of #Riverdale finds Fred doing what he does best--helping Archie. It is dedicated to Luke, as all episodes will be for the rest of our run."

Perry died on March 4, 2019.

He suffered a massive stroke and was rushed to the hospital that Wednesday from his Sherman Oaks, California, home. According to his representative, doctors sedated Perry, hoping to give his brain a chance at recovery, but the damage was too severe. He was surrounded by "his children Jack and Sophie, fiancée Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, stepfather Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends," according to his publicist.

Production was halted following his sudden passing, and the Riverdale show released this statement.

“We are deeply saddened to learn today about the passing of Luke Perry," the statement read. "A beloved member of the Riverdale, Warner Bros., and CW family, Luke was everything you would hope he would be: an incredibly caring, consummate professional with a giant heart, and a true friend to all. A father figure and mentor to the show’s young cast, Luke was incredibly generous, and he infused the set with love and kindness. Our thoughts are with Luke’s family during this most difficult time.”

Fans are already preparing themselves for an emotional experience when episode 19 airs.

"It's so hard to see him on screen knowing that he's not with us anymore but I know it's gonna be even harder this week [be]cause it's the last time we're gonna see him at all," one fan wrote.

"This is going to break my heart all over again," another person wrote.

"[I] miss #LukePerry every day. [It's] hard to believe that he died over a month ago. [I] am going to miss Fred Andrews so much. Truly my fave Dad on ."

Still, they are choosing to celebrate Luke Perry during his last episode airing and beyond.

"Fred, this iconic character, will always be in our hearts just like Luke. Thank you [Luke], for giving life to this great character," one fan wrote. "I will always be grateful. You have marked my adolescence and my life I will always remember you with a smile and pride. Happy to have seen you act."
