After so many hints about the hit show coming to a close, the sitcom Modern Family has come to an end after 11 seasons. The show's social media and Twitter accounts have been flooded with support from fans, and cast members have been giving their thanks to fans

People are obviously upset about the groundbreaking show's end, but they're already thinking about ways the cancellation can work to their advantage. They're thinking up theories to sequels and spinoffs as we speak. Some people would be open to a spinoff, but nothing is in the works just yet.

Modern Family has been renewed for an 11th and final season.

ABC announced at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour that Modern Family is being renewed for an 11th season. Unfortunately, that season will be its last.

The last season could consist of up to 22 episodes.

“In its final season, there will be more milestone events that anyone who has been a fan of the series won’t want to miss,” said Karey Burke, President of ABC Entertainment.

Deadline reported that the last season could have up to 22 episodes, but will have at least 18.

Many of the show's adult stars had already reportedly closed their series contracts, so hardcore fans probably saw this coming.

Another post by Deadline states that adult stars on the show including Ed O'Neill, Julie Bowen, and Sofia Vergara were finalizing their contracts at the end of last year.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitchell) said a bittersweet goodbye on Twitter.

In a pinned tweet to his Twitter profile, Ferguson retweeted The Hollywood Reporter's tweet about the show ending. "Will be hard to say goodbye. Love my family. @ModernFam"

Ferguson also posted a heartfelt farewell on his Instagram.

"Here are some people you get to see one more season of (if you so choose)," the caption starts.  "@abcmodernfam has been picked up for an 11th and final season. I can’t believe I’ve spent over a decade of my life working with a cast and crew I love so much. I’m already preparing myself for a VERY emotional last year with my beautiful, hilarious fake family. And thank YOU for watching. ????????????"

A video of Nolan Gould (Luke) thanking the show's fans was posted on the official Modern Family social media pages.

A video of Gould was posted to the show's social media pages announcing the show's 11th and final season. "Really exciting news today. Modern Family got picked up for its 11th and final season. We're super excited to come back, bring another season for you guys, hopefully, wrap up some storylines, and bring you guys the funnies, and keep making you laugh. Thanks for supporting us," he says in the video.

Rico Rodriguez (Manny) also tweeted his own thankful message.

"What an amazing ride this has been! Can’t wait to return for a final season with my @ModernFam," he wrote.

Eric Stonestreet (Cameron) thanked fans and left advice for his fellow actors.

"I’m so thankful and grateful to have had this job for the last 10 years and that I get to do it for ONE MORE year with this talented group of beauties," he wrote. "Fellow actors: Identify and follow your dreams, have unwavering belief in yourself and your talent, surround yourself with good people, be prepared and on time for when a lot of luck and even more persistence crack open that door of opportunity and then blow through it and leave it ALL in the room knowing you did your best. I’m proof it’s possible for you."

Fans all across the internet were extremely upset by the thought of Modern Family's upcoming ending.

So many fans look at the families from Modern Family as an extension of their own. Even if they don't want the show to end, there's an understanding that it's time.

Other people don't mind the show ending. Just bring on a sequel.

A spinoff would also work. The cast has been asked about sequels before, but no one has given a concrete answer. ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke spoke to Entertainment Tonight and said she "would love that. No one would be happier if there were one."

Don't worry about the plot line, ABC producers! Fans of the show are already on it.

Would you watch a show based on the obscurities of the art world? It looks like this Postmodern Family spinoff idea is another family dramedy where no one understands each other, but everyone tries to get along.

A direct sequel isn't opposed, either.

Maybe the world isn't ready for all these postmodern adaptations of the show. A direct sequel that follows the three Dunphy kids is also something fans of the show are down to watch.

Maybe Cam and Mitch could have their own spinoff series.

Fans fell in love with Cam and Mitch during the show's decadelong reign. Now that their daughter is older, the show could follow her more in depth and talk about the issues she'll face growing up as an adopted child of two dads.

Conspiracy theories suggest Modern Family is already a sequel to another hit show, so what's one more?

Posts in this Reddit thread claim the ABC hit is a continuation of Married With Children. If Modern Family itself is a sequel, why not make it a trilogy? C'mon, ABC, the fans are waiting!
