Netflix's upcoming series will have fans singing "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom" for weeks, because it's all about the Tejano music icon Selena Quintanilla-Perez.

There's still a lot of secrecy around release dates, but reportedly the two-part limited series will be a coming-of-age story about the singer that is produced by the Quintanilla family. Another development is that The Walking Dead actor Christian Serratos is in negotiations to star as the late musician

Fans of the long-running AMC zombie show will immediately recognize Serratos as Rosita Espinoza, who has been in the series for the majority of the seasons. The Mexican-Italian actor also starred in the Twilight series as Bella's bestie Angela. And mid-'00s Nickelodeon lovers will recognize the 28-year-old as Suzie Crabgrass from Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide.

Selena revolutionized Latin music and is a beloved icon even after her tragic death.

A fan shared a video of Selena in her iconic maroon jumpsuit that has been re-created countless times by fans and celebrities. Songs like "Como La Flor" and "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom" were incredibly popular and won her multiple Grammy awards. In 1995, at the height of her successful career and shortly after getting married, Selena was tragically shot and killed by the manager of her fan club after a criminal investigation revealed fraud and embezzlement.

Jennifer Lopez played the singer in a 1997 dramatized movie about Selena's life.

Jennifer Lopez starred as Selena in a biopic about the Mexican-American artist. J.Lo had fans doing a double-take — from the dance moves to the personality, she got most everything right about the iconic musician. The film has gone on to be extremely popular with fans, and Lopez has done several other tributes to the late artist.

Now this limited series will be produced by Selena's family and show her coming-of-age story.

Lopez's movie showed how the star rose to fame, but this upcoming series will place a focus on Selena's life with her family. The official description reads in part: "A coming-of-age story following Selena as her dreams come true and all the heart-wrenching and life-changing choices she and her family have to make as they navigate success, family, and music."

Selena's sister Suzette Quintanilla said in a statement, "Selena will always have a lasting place in music history and we feel great responsibility to do justice to her memory."

She continued, "With this series, viewers will finally get the full history of Selena, our family, and the impact she has had on all of our lives. We are excited to partner with Campanario and Netflix to give fans a never-before-seen glimpse at our story and highlight why Selena will remain a legend for generations to come."

It has been revealed that Serratos is in the early stages of negotiating to be the lead role.

The Hollywood Reporter reported that the last detail to work out is scheduling issues between filming the new series and wrapping up the tenth season of The Walking Dead. Vulture reported that filming is set to begin next month in Mexico on the series about Selena's life and family. So if Serratos does choose the Selena series over her longtime partnership with the zombie one, she likely will make her departure from AMC soon.

The resemblance is uncanny, and Serratos would make sense to play the part.

Based solely on appearance, Serratos is a perfect match for the Tejano music star. Watching her in The Walking Dead, she also has the same amazing energy that Selena was famous for. So many fans were here for this casting news and thought that the actor looked exactly like the late singer.

One tweeted, "Christian Serratos playing Selena in the new Selena series on Netflix is the best news I've heard this week. I mean LOOK AT HER!!!!!!!!!"

The Walking Dead fans will be sad to say goodbye to Rosita Espinoza, who has stayed alive in the zombie apocalypse for six seasons.

Hopefully, scheduling works out that Serratos is able to take on both projects, but if she has to choose, then her time in the zombie apocalypse may be over. The cold and level-headed fighter is a fan-favorite character and has been Serratos' main career focus for years. The actor is set to appear in season 10, but no information is out yet about what will happen next.

If Serratos appears as Selena, she will be the exact right choice, because the Quintanilla family will have made an executive decision.

"Selena and the entire Quintanilla family are an inspiration to many and especially to me, a millennial of the same heritage," president of the partner production company Campanario Entertainment Jaime Dávila said in a statement.

Dávila continued, "Selena's career achievements are legendary, but our scripted series will focus on the incredible story of a Mexican-American family and how an extraordinary young woman transcended categories and borders to become a global star. I can't imagine a better partner than Netflix to celebrate Selena and her family's lives."

Obviously, whoever is chosen to play the iconic role will be an accurate portrayal, because Selena's family will have made the final decision. But if Serratos can't make the commitment, then fans have already suggested Euphoria's Alexa Demie
