Riverdale offers us an endless supply of mystery and drama. The cocktail of secrets, lies, and high school libido is enough to make even the most loyal fans feel overwhelmed. Sometimes we simply need a break from the chaos.

Instead of perpetually scrolling Netflix for something else to watch when "the town with pep" gets to be too much or you run out of episodes, we've put together a handy list of other TV shows similar to Riverdale. While there's nothing exactly like the mischief and mayhem afoot in a town built upon a maple-syrup empire, these 14 shows offer a similar blend of teen drama, hot parents, dysfunctional relationships, and murder mystery. If over-the-top is your thing, look no further.

Twin Peaks: Streaming on Netflix

If you like Riverdale for: The small town that's not so perfect after all

Twin Peaks is basically the original Riverdale. The cast and crew of the Archie Comics series have been very vocal about the show's parallels to the early '90s cult-classic series. In a nutshell: It's a small town with lots of secrets brewing underneath its "perfect" surface. Both shows begin with the murder mystery of a popular teen, both feature lovably quirky characters, and both star the beautiful Mädchen Amick.

13 Reasons Why: Streaming on Netflix

If you love Riverdale for: Relatable teen characters tackling super-serious topics

Unlike the escapist, comic-book universe in Riverdale, the mystery in 13 Reasons Why could very much happen in real life. However, there are some parallels between the two series, such as a teenager's mysterious death and high schoolers dealing with topics way too serious and heavy for high schoolers. Oh, and lots of dysfunctional teenage romance.

Pretty Little Liars: Streaming on Netflix

If you love Riverdale for: Its general insanity, unpredictability, and whodunnit murder mysteries

One of the best and worst things about Riverdale is that its writers never fully commit to a plot point or character arc, which means things change quickly, and it's insanely unpredictable. That, in a nutshell, is exactly how Freeform's hit series Pretty Little Liars was. And now a spinoff show called The Perfectionists is on its way, so you'll have more than enough high school drama to keep you occupied.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Streaming on Netflix

If you love Riverdale for: Its Archie Comics ties

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comes from Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, and like Riverdale, it gets its inspiration from iconic Archie Comics characters. If you like comparing your favorite comic books with the ridiculousness of Aguirre-Sacasa's universe, this is the show for you.

Beverly Hills 90210: Streaming on Hulu

If you like Riverdale for: Hot teens with relationship drama

Beverly Hills 90210 is basically the OG of teen dramas. Like Riverdale, it features a gorgeous cast of 20-somethings playing high school students who act like adults. Oh, and if Archie's dad (Luke Perry) is one of your favorite characters, you're in for a treat seeing him play a dramatic high schooler in 90210.

Skins: Streaming on Netflix

If you like Riverdale for: Teen angst, love triangles, edginess, and relatable characters

Skins was a groundbreaking British series that tackled everything from anxiety and depression to addiction and sexuality. Think Degrassi, but much edgier. Like Riverdale, you'll get very attached to characters that may or may not survive, but don't get too attached, because there's a different cast every two seasons.

The Killing: Streaming on Amazon Prime TV

If you like Riverdale for: Dark, addictive mysteries

The Killing is much darker than anything on The CW, but it does have some similarities to Riverdale. Both series focus on piecing together a mystery that goes a lot deeper than the characters originally thought. Also, both are addictive dramas surrounding the mysterious disappearance of a teen with many dark twists and turns along the way.

Scream: Streaming on Netflix

If you like Riverdale for: Small town with a mystery afoot

A few years back, MTV turned the epic Scream films from the '90s into a TV series, and it's alarmingly similar to Riverdale — which is ironic, considering Skeet Ulrich (FP Jones) was in the original film. In both series, the sheriff's son is part of the main cast, the mayor is sketchy, teachers sleep with students, it's a small town with a mystery afoot, the teens are dealing with their parents' past sins, and more.

Desperate Housewives: Streaming on Hulu

If you like Riverdale for: Having a new mystery to solve each season

While Desperate Housewives centers around adults rather than teenagers, both series tackle a new mystery each season, keeping audiences on their toes. Both are also exceptionally quirky yet somehow serious at the same time.

Veronica Mars: All three seasons coming soon to Hulu

If you like Riverdale for: Teenage detectives solving adult mysteries (and Betty Cooper in general)

Before Betty Cooper was a teenage detective on Riverdale, Veronica was solving crimes for her high school peers on Veronica Mars. Similar to Betty and Jughead, Veronica is constantly getting herself into sticky situations while investigating, and the mysteries will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat.

Wayward Pines: Streaming on Hulu

If you like Riverdale for: Seemingly perfect town with a secret; mysterious disappearances

Like Riverdale and Twin Peaks, Wayward Pines takes on the whole perfect "small town with a secret" trope. Like both shows as well, the residents of the rural town behave peculiarly, and one of the characters begins to uncover the reasons why. Sadly, it lasted only two seasons.

American Horror Story: Streaming on Netflix

If you like Riverdale for: Unpredictable plots, horror tropes

Season three of Riverdale has been particularly creepy. There's murder and suicide, cults, and literal monsters, i.e., the Gargoyle King. If you've been enjoying these horror tropes, why not go full-throttle into the genre with American Horror Story?

Twisted: Streaming on Hulu

If you like Riverdale for: Incarcerated teen heartthrobs; a town full of mystery and suspicion

Sadly, ABC Family (now Freeform) canceled Twisted after just two seasons, but those two seasons were full of suspicion and mystery. Like Riverdale, you don't really know who you can trust. Oh, and also like Riverdale, there's a teen heartthrob locked up for a crime he may not have committed.

Sabrina the Teenage Witch: Streaming on Hulu

If you like Riverdale for: Its Archie Comics ties; its quirky characters

Sabrina Spellman was originally a character in Archie Comics, just like the gang on Riverdale. This '90s gem isn't as twisted or dark as Riverdale, but it is just as quirky.
