Joe Exotic in "Tiger King" has sparked the best memes and reactions

Before I watched all seven episodes of the truth-is-stranger-than-fiction documentary Tiger King, I didn't fully understand the insanity of the memes and reactions to it. Now that I've binge-watched it, I get it.

The story unravels quickly and it gets wilder as it goes on. There are so many twists and turns, it doesn't seem real. But it is. The undiscovered pocket of Americans who own private zoos and exotic cats are so bizarre, this documentary dives into the lifestyle, crimes, and backstabbing that occurs.

After it aired on March 20, people have taken to the internet to express their opinions in the form of hilarious memes. Honestly, some of these memes are just as ridiculous as the documentary itself. If you haven't watched the entire series on Netflix, go check it out and then come back to cackle at these hilarious reactions.

Dax Shepard really wants to play Joe Exotic in the Hollywood adaptation.

If this wild ride of a true story ever gets made into a fictionalized movie, Dax Shepard has already cast his ballot. The actor even shared one fan's edit and it had me convinced. "If I don't get cast as Joe Exotic in the eventual biopic, Hollywood is broken." One fan replied with the photo and wrote, "Starring @daxshepard." The actor responded, "This is a great first step."

But other celebrities are already fighting over the role.

Edward Norton, who is best known for his role in Fight Club, claimed he'd make a better Joe Exotic. "Um, step aside, pal. You’re way too young and buff and you know it. You could probably pull off Maldonado still, actually. Wouldn’t that be fun?" Other fans replied in a tweet that David Spade, who played Joe Dirt in the 2001 comedy, would make the perfect Tiger King."Sorry bro, @DavidSpade been working for this his whole life."

A classic Paul Rudd meme worked too perfectly for Exotic's husbands, John and Travis.

About halfway through the documentary, it's discovered that John and Travis, Joe Exotic's husbands, aren't actually gay and are just using the zoo owner for his access to drugs and exotic cats. "John and Travis when they are both straight, yet in a polygamous marriage with Joe Exotic in a makeshift zoo #TigerKing," one fan tweeted with the Paul Rudd "Hot Ones" meme.

There have been even more hilarious memes made out of this zinger of a line.

"Maybe it’s the dad in me, but this is the best Joe Exotic meme I’ve seen so far. #TigerKing," one fan tweeted. The meme reads: "When a dad sees the front door wide open and multiple lights left on... 'I am never going to financially recover from this.'"

The dramatic line occurred shortly after a zookeeper's arm was torn off by a tiger while guests were attending the zoo.

This bizarre documentary has been a much-needed distraction from the global pandemic happening.

"Me: I can’t stop thinking about, talking about, or reading about the coronavirus.
Netflix: Let me introduce you to Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin.#TigerKing."

It's incredible that no one had talked about the wild stories from these two tiger kingpins before. The hatred between Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin goes farther than any two enemies I've ever seen.

Joe Exotic could be the president right now. Let that sink in.

In one element of the documentary, the bizarre hillbilly ran for president and governor of Oklahoma. Thankfully, he didn't make it very far in his gubernatorial races. However, it's terrifying to think of the kind of headway he'd make if this documentary came out just a little earlier.

"I’m really concerned that if #TigerKing came out in 2016 before the election that Joe Exotic would be our president today," one person tweeted.

I couldn't help but laugh at Exotic's decision to inform his zoo patrons of the disaster that occurred at the zoo that day.

One zookeeper lost an arm and came back to work five days later, after feeding a tiger through the bars of its cage. Exotic did some damage control by informing his guests that a disaster had occurred. "Joe Exotic: 'so um... an employee just stuck her arm in a cage and a tiger ripped it clean off.' Everyone in the gift shop: #TigerKing," one fan tweeted with an appropriate clip from Veggie Tales.

Joe Exotic's style was unmatched.

In the same incident with the zookeeper, Exotic quickly put on a jacket with the paramedics logo on the back. His look will never take a backseat. "Still cannot believe that when a trainer was attacked by a tiger, Joe Exotic took the time to go get a paramedic jacket. #TigerKing," someone tweeted.

Carole Baskin fed her husband to the tigers, and you can't convince me otherwise.

One major unsolved mystery in the documentary is the disappearance of Carole Baskin's first husband, millionaire Don Lewis. Many speculated that Carole killed him and fed him to the tigers, Honestly, after watching this series I'm convinced. "Caroline Baskin’s tigers watching #TigerKing and realizing they were fed Don Lewis in 1997," one fan tweeted along with an edited picture of two tigers.

This wild ride of a documentary has so many twists and turns and crazy elements that it was hard to even keep up. However, it kept me hooked the whole time, invested in the players, and theorizing throughout.
