Major spoilers for "The Walking Dead" mid-season finale, "Hearts Still Beating," lie ahead.
"The Walking Dead" fans have been put through a lot this season. We've watch favorites get mercilessly massacred, other get brutally tortured, and witness more unfortunate one-eyed broody glances from Carl than we care to think about.
But now that we've made it to the mid-season finale and the gang is all back together, we've got some high hopes and major opinions for how the rest of this intense season should shake out.
Here's a list of the major characters we'd like to see make it to the end, ranked by how much they deserve to live.
The only thing Negan deserves is to have someone sic Lucille on him. His psychotic, fat-shaming ass is enough to make you wish you were a walker just so you didn't have to listen to him any more.
As far as evil henchmen go, Simon is ripe for the killing and frankly, his exhausting mysterious personality makes him deserve it that much more.
It is less about Dwight deserving to die and more about me deserving to watch Daryl exact revenge on him. And considering Daryl is lined up with the group again, I have a feeling I'm going to get my reward.
It's bad enough that there are actual brainless beings plaguing the earth; we really don't need a creepy dude disrespecting a beautiful being like Maggie.
This kid has clearly come a long way, but he's still angsty as all hell and frankly, it's just exhausting.
Honestly at this point in the game, the Grimes Gang needs solidarity and her beef with Rosita (though it was sort of reconciled) is too big a risk.
Rosita gets all the props for being badass enough to risk her life in an effort to kill Negan. Granted she could be compromising with her clearly erratic behavior, but since she's going to be so on-task in order to take Negan down, it's worth it to keep her around.
Paul "Jesus" Monroe
"Jesus" still has a lot to offer the group but isn't so essential to the show's plot right now that he *has* to live, IMO.
Morgan's ascent from the depths of madness is far too impressive to snuff out — however, if he doesn't get on board with some necessary violence, he may be less worthy of keeping around than someone who is willing to play ball.
The literal embodiment of goodness and light, Aaron has committed no major crime against the safety of the group. He even takes a beating in order to keep the peace — I think we can grant this guy a few more episodes/seasons.
A man with a tiger and a crush on Carol has more than earned the right to live in this world.
Carol has had a total character evolution each season and has proven she can be compelling and cunning enough, time and time again. And despite her current "leave-me-alone" agenda, the woman has brutally earned the right to see a better tomorrow.
Though Rick is arguably the source for all of the Negan insanity, he's obviously got his head back in the game enough to organize a revolution for Alexandria and Hilltop, and us fans deserve to live vicariously through Rick as he exacts revenge on Negan and his awful Saviors.
Season after season, Daryl is put through utter hell. From loss to humiliation, no matter what this new disease-ridden world throws at him, he still comes out with ears dangling on his neck and a badass swagger. The dude deserves to live forever. Period.
I mean, must I explain this one? Other then the fact that she is one of the few WOC that hasn't died or gone (well, stayed) insane, she's literally the most kickass human alive in this world. Plus, she finally started getting laid and it's just cruel to take that away from someone.
After suffering an immeasurable amount of loss (perhaps arguably the most on the show), Maggie deserves to be as far from death as humanely possible. She's consistently the most efficient, strongest link in the chain and that deserves life more than anything.
