News that one of basketball's greatest players, Kobe Bryant, and his talented daughter Gianna have been killed in a helicopter crash has sent shockwaves through the world. The world is speechless and completely at a loss. The unfathomable tragedy took place Sunday morning, and we're all still in complete disbelief.

The world is at a complete loss after the death of Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna.

TMZ was the first to report on Sunday around 9:37 a.m. PT that the former NBA superstar had perished in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, CA. Hours later, news surfaced that his daughter Gianna, whom he affectionately called "Mambacita" for her love and skill for the game her father dominated, was among the nine killed.

Social media seemed to enter a state of shock, with "Please God" going viral, as Twitter users called on higher beings to protect Bryant's family, hoping that this news was some kind of mistake.

Bryant leaves behind his wife, Vanessa, and three beautiful daughters, including an infant.

This past June, Kobe and his wife welcomed their fourth daughter, Capri, into the world. An outpouring of support for the strength of his wife and family came from former teammates, NBA players, fans, and simply those who were also mourning the loss.

In a press conference on Sunday afternoon, the L.A. County Sheriff's Department reported that a total of nine people were on board the helicopter, but they would not be officially releasing names until next of kin had been made aware of the victims. An investigation is pending into what caused the helicopter to go down.

His legacy and his memory will live on forever.

I'm no huge sports fan, but today has rocked me to my core. You could tell what an amazing father and coach he was, and he was a good friend to many. My heart is broken and my spirit feels heavy. I keep hoping that this is some sick nightmare that we'll all wake up from.

To the Bryant family, and to the families of the other seven victims on board, our hearts and prayers go out to you.
