For her latest photobook, “Private,” Jackson cast a Donald Trump look-alike to cavort around a mock Oval Office. The BAFTA-winning artist imagines Trump flirting, gambling, and even masturbating from behind the president’s desk.
Jackson is famous for her shockingly realistic celebrity “spoofs” — intricate photo series that imagine our beloved figures in their most private moments. Other subjects of Jackson’s work include Kate Middleton, Paris Hilton, and Marilyn Monroe.
But the artist says Trump holds a unique — if somewhat sordid — appeal. She described his campaign as a "reality show where the narrative is ‘running for president’"
me this is fascinating that we as a public have fallen for this; either
because you want to vote for him, or you find him
intriguing and can't resist reading about him in the press," Jackson told Revelist. "Why
bother? The more you bother about him the more you breathe life into him — and ultimately power."
Despite the planet's collective fascination with Trump, crafting the perfect spoof proved easier said than done. For one, nobody could realistically play him.
“I went through, it seems, every casting director, every lookalike agency..." Jackson told Revelist. "None of them looked like the real deal. They came to the audition just to have an opportunity to show off their “Trump’ skills -— for fun."
At one point, Jackson resorted to chasing down possible look-alikes on the street. Her targets did not take it as a compliment.
Fortunately, after a year of searching, Jackson found her perfect Trump. The hilarious fruits of her labor can be seen below:
